This is the third and final component of the Yeovilton/Wildcat project - the addition of the Merlin HC4 (Commando) that shares the airfield with the cats. I could have used John B's Merlin HC2's, but the HC4 is radically different and I wanted to have a go at it. The model and LODs are all done for FS9 and FSX/P3D and Brian has also completed the changes to the Yeovilton scenery to accommodate the two helicopter types:
Next job is to number up the HC4's for the two squadrons at Yeovilton and also provide an alternative doors-closed model for variety on the flight line. I also need to add the cafe buildings at the foot of the museum stairs. I should then be ready to document and assemble the packages.
Gary, I'm trying to finish this project, which has two brand new helicopters, for 3 sim versions, including scenery, overlays and flight plans. I really want to get away from my PC and get out and about now that lockdown has eased. No the Merlin does not have folding "bits" - that's a big increase in complexity for 5 folding blades and the boom, plus an additional drain on draw calls, especially for FSX and P3D. They do have 3 animated doors though.

John, I bow to your modelling skills and I am always grateful for anything you produce. I was maybe being a bit facetious regarding the foldy bits (is that a word)
Its a brave new world out there so stay safe, besides its nearly summer so its bound to rain anyway!
Cheers

Thanks Vortex, I had to watch a video to confirm it, but I agree, the tail rotor disk ring on the Wildcat is far too bright. Easy to fix though - I just have to drop the same toned down rotor texture into each texture folder.

No problem, I can't wait to see your amazing work up close thanks again for doing them.
Afraid not Giorgio, I get asked a lot of questions. I was not intending to make any other UK Marks of Merlin's since John B has already made the Royal Navy Mk2's, unless you are referring to Green retro RAF HC3's. I wasn't intending to make those either, nor do I want to get into the EH101 generally.

Great to see this-as far as I can tell Yeovilton was the last major (current) base in the UK that was missing all of its home traffic in the sim and having the Merlins as well is the icing on the cake.
