That's actually a tad better now that I've seen the wings. I had a nasty feeling that the oversized roundel on the fin was replicated on the wings. The roundel just makes what should be a sleek fighter, appear so tail heavy.
Pete, that is not part of the special scheme. That is the colour for the Aggressor sqn aircraft, which are supposed to be all on 9 Sqn.
Whether this one is from 9 Sqn, or going to 9 Sqn I don't know. The other option is that they deliberately used the aggressor scheme as the base to make it look better.
That would go down as a fail in my book.

That is the original 9 Sqn black typhoon that arrived at Lossie a while back.
As far as I'm aware it is the only black one that has been delivered to 9Sqn so far.
Possibly the choice of airframe was aided by the recent defence review, airframe fatigue etc won't really matter as it's going to be out of service at the end of the 2022 season.
Anyway I'll take a splash of colour in anyday, In 10 or 20 years time it'll be better than looking back at an image of another grey typhoon.

That's dreadful. Please nobody paint it!
I dont think its that bad, maybe because we dont see many specials from our military forces, it does seem though all they can paint is the union flag on to anything that moves, a bit of variation and colour would be more desired, these designs are so simple i would love to be asked to design one for them..
Ok, in the sim world we can have anything we want (almost) so what would everyones ideal scheme have been ?
I'll need to have a think myself but I'm sure I'll think of something.
As an aside in regards to the other countries they are mostly squadron schemes where this is a display schemes I'm not sure but I guess that limits the scope of what gets painted?
I get why people like to see a splash of colour. That is just way too much colour, imho.
What I find weird is that the RAF hierarchy seem to be stamping down on Sqn markings, i.e. colour, and then come up with this. Would far rather have the normal Sqn markings than this one off monstrosity.
