Can you tell me, and others, how you did it? Or send me a pm?

How I Did It

Post by BobF »

HI. I installed them into FS9. I then copied the aircraft into a folder I made called AI Aircraft in the Simobjects folder. I added that folder in the fsx.cfg. I opened the aircraft.cfg's and changed all parking to RAMP_MIL_COMBAT or RAMP_MIL_CARGO as required. I opened the FS9 AFCADs in AFX and changed them into FSX. I made sure I had all of the Effects and Effect bmp's from FS9 in FSX. I could not change the flightplans myself as I cannot install NFW2.0 on my computer. I received the converted flightplans from a friend in Europe. I put the converted flightplans into FSXScenery\World\Scenery. I disabled my UT traffic by renaming the bgl to bgx which disables it. I have three packages working now. I hope this helps. I use the Mobile Control Tower to watch the planes and the AI traffic function in FSX. I set the tower and ground freq's on the MCT and hear both tower and ground. Best regards, Bob.

:D Thanks, I'm certain I'll try. Your efforts should be of interest to others as FSX AI must come sooner or later.

Thats a great list for me to try but I'll try each step until I understand each. Yes, I've been using the FS9 MAIW AI happily with the Alphasim Beale payware scenery and the same Alphasim scenery works in FSX so I don't think I need the AFCAD. I've put the MAIW AI a/c in FSX as you say in an AI folder.

Next will be the cfg changes. :smt024

The effects were renamed with the addition of an "s". The effects bmp was transferred to the FSX textures folder. To do this I made a "new folder" in the FS9 main folder and installed the MAIW Beale to it to access the files easily. This "new folder" was moved to My Documents for that easy access. I hope I'm right about the need to put the "s" so as to change fx to sfx.

The flight plans are another matter. I can only ask if it is possible to send them to me? I can provide an email address in a pm.

I hope I can do this as I am still a bit wet behind the ears in the AI world.

I've done the aircraft.cfg changes which are simple. I'm unsure of the fsx.cfg change. Could you comment on this?

just curious why did you have to disable it? can you only have one traffic file with fsx?
