My F-15s at Lakenheath seem to go black when the base is full...obviously it is a memory problem as when half of them are out they all display fine and the model displays correctly at Seymour Johnson and Mountain Home..
Would anyone know of a better file type to save the textures as to stop this happening?
Was the LN package that you used called jyai_f-15s_fsx_lakenheath_repaints.zip by Zsolt?
Also was the package for MO called jyai_f-15e_s_mo_366fw_fsx_.zip by Mark W?
The reason I ask is that I want to ensure that I have both packages that you do.
IF they are the same packs then there is a difference. The MO ones are DXT5 but are 2048x2048 in size but do have Mips whereas the LN ones are DXT5 1024x1024 and do not have Mips. It would seem that a possible cause could be that with that many aircraft at the base you need mipped textures to be able to cope on your setup.
IF the packs I stated are the same I would try backing up your LN folder(s) and converting them to mips using one of Don's utils, texture Manager or Mipmap Manager to see if that helps.

Hi Steve, thanks for the reply.
Having checked, you are correct the MO files are 2048x2048 and the LN are indeed 1024.
Will try downloading mipmap manager and give that a go.
Thanks for your help all sorted.
Downloaded mipmap manager and converted the textures....replaced the old folders with the new one mipmap manager created and then converted the files back to DDS DXT5 and all looking good now.
Glad it is sorted.
It is kinda weird that the bigger textures were ok but the smaller ones w/o mips weren't, but hey its nice that we were able to investigate a solution.

Just for the record they all went black again!
'Tranquil' kindly went through my aircraft.cfg and noticed one F-15 had an error in the texture file name...with that corrected they all now show. Thanks to Mark and the previous posters.
do these re paints work with the normal lakenheath traffic file from the nick black version? if not does anyone have have the appropriate traffic file for them?
I am trying to locate the fx_JYAI_F15_ab Effect and the associated texture file(s). I have looked everywhere and haven't located this file or the fx_JYAI_F15_ab_extended_JY. Which download includes these effects files? Thanks.
John,thanks you for the the files, I appreciate it.
I'm still a bit confused. I wasn't seeing any afterburner effect from the JYAI - F-15E 494FS Lakenheath aircraft. I went to the [Lights] section of the Aircraft.cfg file and there are two lines for an optional line for extended afterburner effect:
//light.6 = 2, -20.00, 1.79, 0.000, fx_JYAI_F15_ab_extended_JY , //Optional Extended Time to Afterburner Ignition
//light.7 = 2, -20.00,-1.79, 0.000, fx_JYAI_F15_ab_extended_JY , //Optional Extended Time to Afterburner Ignition
And there are another two lines for the "normal" afterburner effect:
Paul, yes, you have the right lines, but the effect names must match the names of the effects files in the zip I posted. You need to choose between the "normal" one and the "extended" one. The "extended" one has a delay in the light up to allow for the F-15 to line up, depending on the AFCAD in use. it therefore extinguishes later.
Thanks John, I changed the fx file name in the aircraft.cfg file to match the fx file name in the .zip you posted and I now have an afterburner effect.
