PDAI Lockheed TriStar

Post by shaggy22 »

Recently my dad has just started modelling ai aircraft for P3D & the first aircraft I asked him to do was the Lockheed TriStar as I thought it would be a fairly simple project, oh how wrong I was  . I would say we're about 95% complete now, there are a few creases that need ironing out but hopefully that shouldn't be too difficult.

Included will be models for the civvie fleets, the -200 & -500 series aircraft but also included will be 2 versions for the RAF based on the 500 series. & as a bonus the Stargazer aircraft with, & without, the Pegasus missile has been done as well. I will include a modern texture for it alongside the retro texture.

My dad has done all the modelling parts to this & is working on the fde as well, I have done the repaints & paint kits for them. I need to thank a few people as well, Mason Curling who has been instrumental in helping us especially with the animations side of it. Mike Person is also heling out with the texturing & the pbr side of things as well, massive thanks to you both, it is most appreciated.

I'll release these alongside some revamped VC10s as well to go with them, in essence a total overhaul of the paintkit & applying 2048x2048 textures to them to match the TriStars. The good thing about the VC10s in the late 90s is that they were in 3 different schemes, grey, white & desert pink, loads of colour at Brize Norton back in the day :D

Please ignore the fact the Pegasus missile looks a different colour & that the engine reverser is deployed, that's some of the issues we're working out.

Wow, that's really nice! I had given up hope of ever having the Stargazer in the sim.

Just a quick update on this one. We've had to redo the fuselage as there was a massive issue when the pbr texturing was applied. You can see said issue on the last picture as well which we missed at the time. So it's going to be a while longer yet sadly

Quick update, this project has been temporarily paused for now. We're closer to getting another aircraft out & we've switched priorities to that. My dad has also found some new mapping techniques as well so as well as redoing the model for the pbr textures it needs a remap as well. So when I previewed this I thought we were about 95% done, turns out we're about 25% done instead.

We'll get there eventually though, famous last words admittedly.
