MDAI MiG 17

Post by shaggy22 »

Up next from the hangar of Mason Curling is the MiG-17, or Shenyang J-5 or Lim-5 depending on who made them. Mason himself has made the model (the easy part  ) & done the fde whilst I've done the textures & paintkit, exactly the same way the MiG 15 was done basically.

There are multiple variants to this, single seater A, F & PF models & 2 seat UTI & FT-5 models for your delectation. There will be repaints included for the North Koreans & a bunch of civvies as well. No flightplans will be included this time though as there are some flightplans out there already for the North Koreans.

We're not too far from finishing now, just a few tweaks here & there hopefully to do. Here's a few screenshots to look at:

Thanks to all! I sent what I hope to be final release worthy models of the 17 to Dan a couple of days ago, once he is in agreement they will be uploaded to MAIW for all to have... I guess I will spill the beans now... more to come... I have already started work on the 19 / J6 series... But much like with going from the 15 to the 17 I have found the models to be more complicated and with more variations, which means it will take me more time to make them... Then I think I will be done with old Migs for the time being... But also planning lots more exciting stuff... Also super thankful to have Dan as my partner in these projects as his re-paint / paint kit and flight plan work, and assistance with testing alleviates a major burden on me... While I know Dan loves his eastern block and retro, I am hoping he continues to take an interest in / continue to work with me on some of the modern / current stuff I am looking into for future projects...
