Miramar MCAS

Post by matias »

I am almost done with a complete set of weekly flightplans for all hornets based at KNKX. you will need the ai hornet available at avsim. I am not sure if I can include my aircraft.cfg file with them though. I have created waypoints in the variuos ranges they use and also there is a great set of callsigns that are available at PAI for these hornets. I have been waiting for a real ai model to come along but since I feel these plans may be appreciated I have decided to see if anyone would like them. As far as an AFCAD they will fit right into the AFCAD that is available with USMC USN Herc package. If anyone can shed some light on the aircraft.cfg file let me know also let me know if there is any interest at all in these plans. Thanks guys
PS Fallon is next on my list-except no good afcad.

I've got a "rough" AFCAD for Fallon I've tinkered with. I'd be more than glad to include it in a package.

I am very interested in this, i have made my own flightplans with abacus ai hornets but they are purely fictional and suffers serious stutters. So this flightplan you are making will be a very nice solution to my stuttering miramar. :D

I have a KNKX AI package already that I got from avsim, includes hangers and API CH-47/UH-1's (I know, wrong birds) on the ramp with a AFCAD. I am a basic set of flightplans for all the ai_hornets I have based there.

I also have NFL up from one of my military VA's I fly online with. Its gotl hangers and a good accurate AFCAD.

Since I am a Naval Aviation buff, there are some nice scenery for KNTU, KNZY (FPS heavy!) and KNUW, all on avsim or flightsim.com

Somemore info....I travel all over California to regional airports for meetings and I have compilied a list of airports and such and last week I was actually at KNKX for the airshow I have gotten a chance on a few occasions to chat with some of the hornet pilots from KNKX and that is where I have gotten my info for these plans. THey are pretty realistic. When I have them done and ready I will let you guys know. Should be a week or so. THanks for the interest.

Those would be great to see, I have just copied some of the flighplans from some of the MAIW packages, and switched them up a bit.

Swimeye-I have FD4 too and those are hardly AI aircraft. I have an add-on scenery package for KNLC, very nice scenery from the same designer that did most of the other NAS files, and the Abacus AI F-18E killed the FPS, not the NAS Lemoore scenery. I am staying with the AI Hornet (tons of repaints) and the FSKBT Superhornet Lite. (MP and AI version).

furthermore....Miramar is closed saturdays and until 2pm local time sundays. This is the reason a lot of these hornets go TDY during this time. I have witnessed this on many occasion in California and other airports near, my plans reflect this...I am still hard at work on the last few squads. More updates soon as this draws to an end. you will find these plans very accurate for those of you who are in the know about Miramar. I hope someday MAIW will use my plans in a pack with a good AI hornet, Standby for the Pack it will be worth it!

I am working on the last squad at Miramar. Just visited the base and took some time to look over the parking and field activity. It appears that a lot of the aircraft at Miramar have been assigned a TDY base because of the Fires in SOCAL. I saw about 12 hornets on base with a few helis also. I am not taking this into account for my flightplans since in the airline industry this would be considered irregular ops! Oh well it was a not a good visit at 3000 ft agl LOL. I have one more squad to do and then you will have some very complete and accurate plans. I am working on the reserve squad now. i have seen these hornets at various airports and I am including those in the flight plans.

We see So Cal Hornets all the time in Arizona. YUM, IWA, PHX, and TUS are big TDY stations on the weekends. they will fly sorties from IWA and use the southren Az ranges

I have a Miramar package that has some Hornets with it.
They are labelled 'OAI F18'.

Not sure if these are true AI's or not. My guess would be 'not', but I'd pass along the files if anyone is interested.

14 different repaints 2 different models.
1 model is actually 2 aircraft in formation.

Here is one of the fltsim entries for your viewing.

[fltsim.0]
title=OAI F18 USMC_VMFAT-101
sim=ai_hornet
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=USMC_VMFAT-101
atc_id=Marine
atc_flight_number=100
atc_airline=Shooter
atc_heavy=0
atc_parking_types=MIL_COMBAT
atc_parking_codes=A101, F18, M001
ui_manufacturer=McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing
ui_type=F/A-18 Hornet
ui_variation=USMC - VMFAT-101, MCAS Miramar, California. 163458 & 165190
description=OAI F18 for AI use

Just found this in the read-me.

"Package concepts by Bill Baldwin."

Here is more info on the package that I have. This is a list of credits for the aircraft included.

Rory Kelly (ch-46 and ch/mh-53 Helos); Jarvis Chang (CH53_USMC); Graham King (Repaints); Hiroaki Kubota (OAI_f-18); flyerkg@hotmail.com (MCAS_MIR Afcad2 files); Rob Nieuwenhoven and Holger Sandmann (AI_Helos for FS9), and Henry Tomkiewicz (AI C-130's).

that is the best ai hornet right now and that is the one I am using with all of the repaints for the squads. Also I will inlude the cfg file they will park accordinly in their spots as done in the MAIW afcad for kNKX available in the Marine Herc Package. Also I have taken into acoount all of the arizona TDY bases and some waypoints in SOCAL. THanks for the info.

Thats all we have right now, and yeah this is the best AI Hornet out, the formation model is cool.

Check G. Kings repaint site for just about every Hornet squadron out. Some of the squadrons actually fly F-18D's (2 seaters), but there is no AI model out for one.

If you want even more aircraft, I have the AI Bell 212, just need to repaint it in USMC colors, both tactical and station SAR.

yeah that is rough that there are some squads that have the D model. Well when we get one that will further add to the realism of the package. As far as the helis I havent even thought ablout them. I have just been plugging away on the hornets. If someone else wants to do the helis that would be awesome. My next pack is going to be Fallon since we have all of the correct AI. keep ur eye out for a new post on that pack after Miramar is finished up.

I recall reading on this forum some time back that there are a series of AI FA-18's in development, so be prepared to be flexible with your fp's etc in anticipation. I expect they will show up in a package release (can hardly wait for it) and you will be able to extract the models from there to build your own packages. I have absolutely no details and encourage you not to ask. The author(s) will reveal what they desire, when they desire.

I only post this because I'm sure that some of you haven't been coming here for long enough to have seen the original posts and are unaware. There were at one time some pic's but haven't been able to find them, and only a smidgen of other mention turned up in my quick search.

maybe if they want some flightplans that are a very close match to the real world they will use the ones I am going to post or atleast pattern theirs after these. The only reason I say that is because I have spent many years following these hornets all over California and nearby states. Cant wait for an AI hornet.

I think you may be talking about Matias...you did start work on one. There is model in real development at the moment...at least that I am aware of.

yeah, I did start on one then I realized that I am only human and not a magical super human like Nick, Psuls, weescotty and Rysiek to name a few. LOL not to forget aerogator too...we owe you guys big time and I wish I could have finished it but it proved to be way out of my level. Sorry I guess I can do a good job as a field scout and flightplannner though :wink:

here is what I have completed. I hope you enjoy these and are inspired to create something like this for a base you know of. I appreciate all that MAIW does and I am proud to post this little piece that I have worked on for everyone. Sim-on!
