FSDS - Add Points

Post by BLACKCAT »

I can't - or the program doesn't seem to want to let me. My understanding is that it is available in Point Mode but the icon doesn't 'activate'; the only mode in which it does (for me) is Template. Am I missing something?

'Add points' is now and only ever has been available in template mode.
Which way is up?

Nope, it is also available in point mode.

Choose two points
Click add point
Adds a point midway between the two selected points.

Only way I've found of using it outside of templates.

IMPORTANT - Delete the poly that is associated with the two selected points or you will get an error when you compile.

Many thanks for that, will save me a lot of time. Couldn't find that in the manual though...LOL

edit: doesn't seem to work in v3.51 on my models.

Must make sure you are ONLY selecting 2 points.

That is what took me the longest time to figure out. When you hit Cntrl+A or add point, if it doesn't show up, you are not selecting 2 points. Usually it's because you are selecting more than two points and you don't realize it.

Thank you both, you are correct, in close up I had three points selected. With two selected it does work!!

I'm sorry guys. It just ain't happening for me. I select 2 adjacent points and the menu button isn't activating nor is the menu option. I'm running V.3 but the facility must be there hence the menu option.

You are possibly being caught the way I was. If you have two selected points showing in all three views then you have more than two points selected. If you have only two points selected then in at least on view there should only be one selected point showing (one on top of another).

To check what Graham is talking about, go into view mode and change the preview panel to display the part as a wire frame model instead of a solid. That might give you a better view of which point/s are giving you the hangup.
