AI Helos

Being a fan of US Naval Aviation and rotary wing ops, I am trying to get some of my NAS's up with accurate helos. I was stationed at NAS Jacksonville, FL in two helo squadrons. Callsigns and flightplans are easy, the AFCADs are already from other packages, but here's my issue:

I am using the "AI stremme as helicopter" airfile found on other sites, which can be used for many AI helos, and I have all the Hovercontrol H-60's, to give my US Army aviation some life as well. These work, and I am not worried right now about the lack of hover ability, ground taxi is fine and accurate for this helo. I downloaded a NEM design S-70B with a new airfile for AI, using the HC model. Does anyone know what the updates were on this? The readme states its an unfinished project, but nothing on what this project consisted of. This model is listed in the AI Listing thread too.

I was also surprised when I upgraded my Abacus Flight Deck 4 and found an AI HH-60H, along with other AI aircraft from the package that I needed for other naval air stations(C-2/F18C/F18E/2x S3's/"clean" EA6B). I am not a model designer, but I noticed these AI are not really true AI, as I watch FPS skip around when they are in the area, so I am not sure if they have any additional LOD's. Too bad these are payware too, but I am watching the other threads on US Navy aircraft projects.

Once I get the airfile working, this should be quick fix for other AI helos.

The unfinished stuff mainly referred to the model itself and fine tuning of the air file. I have recommenced work on it (remember this is an S-70B-2, not an SH-60B) and it will be re-released with the rest of the ADF AI package at www.vistaoz.org and www.aussim.com.au when complete. This package will also contain an update to the RAAF AI package to reflect the many changes to the RAAF's fleet in thethree years since we released that package.

Thanks, I have been flying online mostly anyway and put my AI helo work aside until I got some more info on changing airfiles. The S-70B would be fine as an USN SH-60B/F, I wasn't looking into the details that much since they are AI anyway, my plan was to have all the textures correct for the many USN squadrons. I look forward to seeing what you come up with and I will get back to trying to find some good AI helos for my USN&Army bases.

Will be looking forward for these packages, since I am also a big fan of Helos myself. Being retired from the Army Natl Guard as an UH-60 crewchief almosts 4 years now, I still miss them bad boys. Keep on the good work and a very special Merry Christmas to you all.

Yep, helos get in your blood! I had nine years away from them before starting in my current job where we have three (five soon!) to look after. We hope to get the ADF AI package out the door in the next quarter.

Oh, the irony! I use FS to get away from over 22 yrs flying helis.

Give me a nice relaxing fixed wing to fly, none of this fling wing stuff. Seriously though, it'd be great to see many more helis in FS.
