"We will never forget" :D

No Rysiek, I think we all want to see that fancy airplane in our virtual skies !

But I am the best placed to understand you don't have all the time you want to complete it :roll:

Time is the biggest problem with modeling. I started my E-190s in September 2006!! :lol:

Ya got that right! "Project AN-124" was started in November 2006 :roll:
Then there are the 5-6 other projects I've started in the meantime that'll prolly never get finished :lol:

It was going fine, until several major flaws were discovered after I made the LODs :evil:
I'm pretty certain all the bugs are ironed out now, and I'm about to start the LODs again.
Once they're done, someone will find something else wrong with it :lol:

I hate it when you discover some bugs... I've spent most of the day re-building the entire flap/spoiler/wing trailing edge area. Still got to make the inboard flaps and animate them. And then there's the textures, which were supposed to be finalised ages ago! :lol:

Hi,
here's some refreshing info, I hope.

I was able to set up a new development environment, during last few days, including Ketrzyn-Wilamowo EPKE airport, made from scratch, located as per Google Earth.
Here's some info:
http://www.lotniskoketrzyn.pl/index.php?lang=en
I've chosen exactly that one as they have pretty An-2 Fly-in's, every year now.

Here's what I have, after a fresh FSDS v3.5.1 recompile and 3 LODs ready:

An-2's are not young now, so some servicing is needed:

Another one needs maintenance ... :P

Let's have some fun:

PS. All great paints by Mike Pearson, he has some time consuming real-life now but I hope we will continue the job soon ...

You guys set the bar higher and higher with each model. Well done. Are those Golden Knights?

I can't believe this but I was able to finish LODs this week :smt050

So, polygon count for RWAI An-2 Release Candidate 1 (a basic, wheeled version) is:
LOD1 = 3249
LOD2 = 2799
LOD3 = 1235
LOD4 = 787
LOD5 = 477
LOD6 = 134
LOD7 = 14

I love the way the textures seem to be holding out all the way to the last LOD. Does this mean that these will not turn gray when viewed from a bit of a distance?

Every AI should be done this way but ... the gray effect could be rather FS9 "gift" for us, somewhat model independent, an effect of a balance between computing power and minimum FPS set ...

All my models are textured all the way down to the last LOD. It is to do with FS not with the models. Its either Mip-Mapping on the textures, or your graphics card....or anyone of the above. Dont ask me what it is as Ive never understood, but its not the models thats for sure.

Looks like everything is done on my side,
I'm satisfied with LODs right now.
I will forward the stuff for paint enhancements and (possible in some following time) package preparation in a minute.

Here's an An-2 massive attack :D
