Is it possible to create waypoints for AI traffic? If so, can someone please tell me what to do. Do I use afcad to create a waypoint.
I have posted a screenshot of SAAF AI for those who might be interested in the Your packages section.
Thanks

We have used waypoints in a number of our packages. Why don't you d/l th IDF package that just came out and study the waypoints in that one, using AFCAD.
There is some ability to play around with these (setting the pattern hight etc, in AFCAD), but basically you just create what amounts to an invisible airport, very small, no texture/light options ticked, and add the normal details to the airports.txt file.
The a/c will not just pass over the waypoint, you will have to fp a TNG at the waypoint. If IFR, it will make a low approach, with gear down, and start a go around. If you want it to loiter at the waypoint, just time it for multiple TNG's, else allow for only one pass with you timing. If VFR, you will need to adjust the airport altitude to be above the terrain, so that the landing does not occur in the terrain, also, you need to be sure that the pattern altitude and field altitude work together to prevent flying into the terrain immeadiate to the waypoint. You will have to experiment a little to get satisfactory results.
Also, don't forget to consider the difference in altitudes of the departure airport with the waypoint and the next airport beyond (for example, if the final destination is much lower than the waypoint, the a/c may enter the downwind leg, but then vanish, and reappear already parked shortly thereafter, or if the waypoint is at an altitude considerably different than the departure airport, the a/c may make a single pass at the waypoint and then climb out with gear down and fly off into the sunset, until it has to be respawned prior to next departure, or some other crazy behavior - I've seen them corkscrew all over the place for a while, then go off somewhere, and so on). Again, you will have to experiment to get it all correct.
Have fun!
