Using PAINT for textures

Post by Cheetah_D »

Can I use the Windows XP Paint program to adjust textures of aircraft. I have a SAAF Harvard but noticed that all of them have the same number when used in AI. Can anyone suggest what I can do to make these changes as it looks quite stupid having 10 Harvards with the same number at one airport?

Get Gimp.

It supports layers so if you make a mistake you just affect the layer your working on.

You are also going to have to recompile the bmp's to DXT3 after the changes. I use DXTBmp availble from http://fly.to/mwgfx/

Be aware there well might be some colour changes after a second recompilation.

Why can’t they keep the colours in the bloody paint pots and just leave them grey

I somehow prefer Imagetool of MS SDK for all the converting jobs, over DXTBmp (check FS2004 SDK Terrain SDK TERRAIN_SDK). FSX have this as well, in a little newer version.
