Anyone here using AFX? The new AFCAD clone?
A friend of mine contacted me about it stating the AFX fault finder is finding errors that AFCAD2.21 doesn't show.
I took a look at one of his AFCADs and I'll be darned if I can find the fault that AFX is finding.

I tried this.
Yes, the fault finder is a little too much "sensible". You have to delete "faulty" links a few times sometime to have them passed.
But ... visualization right inside in FS just rocks, so you can forget the above issue (or use old plain AFCAD to check for errors).
My recommendation is - go for it, you'll love it.

I've just bought AFX and I can't get that visualisation in FS to work properly. If I highlight a polygon then yes, it does show as a series of lights. But if I highlight a parking spot then I can't see anything happening in FS. Am I doing something wrong?RipPipPip wrote:But ... visualization right inside in FS just rocks, so you can forget the above issue
Where ever you go, there you are.

No, I can't. As I said, it's only things like polygons that I see in FS. I've tried re-installing the prog but it's still the same.
One thing I have noticed is that AFXModuleFSX.dll doesn't appear anywhere in the FSX folder although the FS9 equivalent does appear in the FS9 modules folder.

OK, I don't have FSX but I do know that there is ModuleInstaller proggy in its directory, try running that. It might be that you install FSX after AFX, but I am guessing here.

Keith,
I can't tell you anything regarding AFX because I don't have it. But I like to point you to Jon's ADE program, which has reached a very mature state meanwhile.
You will find it at his homepage http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/ It is free. The version available is the Home version which easily allow most common task. Have a look at it, I can recommend it very much.
As for more complicated things (e.g. changing approach data), a Pro version is developed in parallel. This version has a greatly enhanced scope of abilities, is under heavy development and will therefore not be available for some time.
Another free alternative is FSXPlanner (http://www.zbluesoftware.com/fsxplanner/).
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Martin
