Mayday....what have I done ??

Post by Fastair »

Hi all,
Please can you anyone help me here. Have been playing around and having a tidy up on my system. On going flying I have now found that I have lost textures where ever I have anything MAIW installed, in the screen shot, Lakenheath, Marham ( HAS ) areas and Coningsby now look like this ?!
Please tell me it is recoverable, many thanks.

I am just double checking, but it looks like a default fs9 texture rather than an MAIW one, the clue being Marham. Not many textures supplied there.

Have you used the sysinternals utility filemon before? If you have set it so that it only looks for FS9 errors and then slew across an airfield that has this problem. The missing texture will be displayed.

If you haven't used it before or can't work out how to use it, we will try and work out what you have deleted but it might be slower.

Can you remember what you tidied in your fs9\texture folder?

Hi Firebird,
Many thanks for the reply, to be honest I've never heard of that utility. Happy to give it a shot though. So, do you think this is possibly recoverable?

I checked the scenery folders and there aren't any taxiway textures in any of them, so I think that its your default scenery folder thats the problem.

In my folder I have 24 textures beginning with taxi, 21 taxi_*.bmp and 3 taxiway_*.bmp.

I have a feeling that its either taxi_asphalt, taxi_macadam or taxi_tarmac that Ian uses.
If you can pm me a list of the taxi* files you have in fs9\texture then I am sure that we can sort this out.

SIR,
You are a genius and a true gent. A very humble and slightly embarressed thank you. Sorted at all three stations and guessing a few others I haven't checked.

Thank you once again for your time and patience....

As long as there is one guy to do flightplans, repaints, vpcmods...and package them all up; I will keep the site going. Mike and Desmond will still have to maintain it, though :P
