Post by scottr5213 »

I have been working on a new scenery for Mosul Iraq. On google earth I see quite a few helo's, is there anyone who knows if there any scheduled flights going in and out of there?

There is, but why would you want to sim this real world "situation"? It's not a good place to be and in the early parts of OIF is was worse.

Appreciate your efforts on this Scott but as a military man myself (at the moment) I'd prefer not to have any details of flight schedules of Military Aircraft in and out of Iraq brought up on here, for OPSEC reasons.

Sorry mate we've gotta be careful.

I guess it would be better asking what fly's in there as to who and when. I have been a simmer here for awhile and if I step on anybodys toes here it was by accident. MAIW is by far one of the best places to be and I dont want to make any enimies here.

From info that I got off the web 2 areas that I plan to put in is Camp Diamondback and Camp Claiborne, now this info that I got is a little old so I guess it would be safe to put AI in there for resupply. The airfield is over 8000' long so without giving out any scerets and since most resupply dosent run on a set timetable, anything would be better than nothing.

Yeah, mate, thats ok. The point Nick is making is not to use genuine data, complete guesswork data is always good for AI :D

You would be fine putting AI helos in and out. To the south is Balad AB, a major airbase, you could have AI cargo flights going in and out, including IL-76's. As mentioned above, due to OPSEC, I can't go into the many other airframes flying.

I understand why you would want AI there, but having been twice and looking at a 3rd trip next spring, the last thing I want is to design or even fly in FS world a place that I just flew in real world with people wanting to shoot me down.

Victory103, I was wondering if you could tell me about the vegitation around the airfield, but I also understand if you care not to talk about it.

Pretty standard Iraqi veg, and lots of sand. The airfield sits in a slight valley, and is in the middle of a the city.
