Drive through parking

Post by Jumpshot724 »

How do you get drivethrough parking to work correctly?? Mine are hit or miss when I make AFCADs

This is quite an involved process and at an airport with more than one runway and several parking areas can be a total nightmare, causing you to wake in the middle of the night mumbling about nodes and links. :D

There are several guides around, some of which pose more questions than they answer. I think I've just cracked it for Pease Tradeport, KPSM, it's relatively simple as it has only one runway and one (large) pan.

I'm not at home at the moment and I probably wouldn't do justice to a proper guide. This is too involved to cover in one post and I'd need screenshots to help.

What I suggest you do is download cyyj_v35.zip from Avsim. It is a great example of drive-through parking and also includes a tutorial. The author, Don Grovestine, has also included advice on limiting aircraft pushback on start. I'm afraid that it is also largely trial and error based, which is pretty time consuming, especially if, like me, your FS takes 20 mins to load each time due to the weight of AI traffic!

Good luck with the sleepless nights

The TOPGUN package has a rather intricate drive through parking scheme that Mike did a great job on... you could pick it apart and learn a few things. They can get pretty convoluted though.
