Carrier Traffic
Hi,
As a small project for saturday night with nothing to do... I wanted to create traffic for an aircraft carrier (actually LHA-1 USS Tarawa) the sing is that, i got the choppers to take off and move around the deck, but when it comes to landing they just wont land. They fly over the deck, and go around. This even if there is no other aircraft on the carrier.
Ive tried adding all navaids possible, VFR, IFR, changing the altitude in the airport.txt of the traffic file, but still nothing.
Is there someone around that knows what the issue is?
BTW: I'm ussing the Seaking AI helicopter available in avsim, with the .AIR file of MAIW (Elvis) S-75 of the Carib. Defence Force

I seemed to recall a problem with AI that normally land down on the runway, and then supposedly do not have enought room to land, and do a missed approach. My guess is, and only a guess, is extend the invisible hard runway of your carrier out past the stern some. Maybe try 50m to start. I know many of the oil rigs helipads have hardened surfaces that are larger then the visible pad itself. Of course, do not extend the hold short and taxiway to the runway past the stern.
Worth a try, I guess, even if it does not work.

There's not much yet to show but basically, my idea was have marines storming a beach by helos and LCAC's... nothing too fancy, 8 helos (currently the Abacus HH-60 AI from FD5 with NAVY titles for now) take of, and fly in formation 2 aircraft (they fly close, but not in formation really) and land simultaneusly on the beach (that is done, I think it looks cool when they fly very close), also added an LCAC (AI, don't remember where I got it from) departing from LHA-1 USS Tarawa and stoping at the same beech as the helos.
Finally I'm trying to add a flightplan that uses a waypoint I created over the beech to represent air support, but I haven't been able to undestand flightplans with waypoints yet (If someone has a simple template with a plane taking off, flying to the waypoint and returning, I would really apreciate it) since there is no AI Cobra... I'll have to wait for the Harrier...
Finally I what to add some scenry: some HMVEEs and soldiers, tents, etc. thow I haven't found anything I can use with RWY12 except for some pilots.
And that for now. I'll try to take some screens later.

There are other static objects that people made with macros - something no longer supported in FSX it seems, so I don't have those files.
And some packages include usable military static objects ijn their bgls - unfortunately, I do not have a list of those. The way I "keep rediscovering them" is when I use Instant Scenery and just go browsing through the files looking for something to place into my FSX scenes.
For something different, take a look at this file:

I know that Instant Scenery allows the use of ez-scenery objects as well as rwy-12 objects. IS is a follow-on pprogram to an earlier version (the name escapes me right now). IS is well worth the investment in my opinion because of its versatility.

I am not very good at xml and such so I design my own scenery the old way using EOD (Easy Object Designer) and FSSC (Flight Simulator Scenery Creator) and make my own static objects which is a lot of fun. Both programs were made for FS8 but can be easily used in FS9. For moving objects I use AI converted vehicles and sometimes repaint them in camouflage colors.
My sceneries are not perfect but as they are for my own amusement, who cares.
