To help, we need the specifics of what isn't working.
Destinations
What did the routing line Flight Planner produced look like?
Do you have valid afcads/parking at both locations - departure and arrival?
Are those parking spots correctly labelled/sized - do they match the aircraft config files' lines and the aircraft.txt file lines?
Without that type of specificity, trying to help involves an awful lot of guessing - at least on my part.

Two things: the planner was made by a contributor but is not a MAIW product. Second, to realistically use this tool you are going to need to know those terms. This is basic flightplanning terminology. Not having a go at you mate, just being honest about what you are going to need.

The Flight Planner Utility that you mentioned is a valid utility. However, it is necessary for you to understand that a flight plan alone is not all that is required to successfully have AI traffic. As mentioned above by Ford Friendly, you will have to have a valid AFCAD (use, for example, Airport Design Editor, to create them for FSX) and the parking spots must be adequate at both the departure and destination airports to have the AI flight plan work. If not, the AI aircraft will never appear.
You should do a little research, download a couple of utilities and read the manuals in order to understand the basic's required to have AI traffic designed by yourself. It isn't possible to discuss this topic with you until you have done some basic learning first. Do a google search for Airport Design Editor, or visit the FSDeveloper.com forums to link to download this freebe, with complete manual, and you already have the AI Flightplanner, which should have a complete manual with it. Between the AI Flight Planner and the ADE manuals, you should be able to learn all you need to get started.
Then you will be prepared to ask for additional help.

Guys
Dont forget Rips own Flight Planning tool on AVSIM. This product REALLY allows you to do Flightplans in a simple method (but its also allows lots of clever stuff if you spend the time on it)
I'd recommend you download this and read the instructions/manual that comes with it (there is a quick guide). And you will creating flightplans in no time at all
Search for rpp_fpgen_v1.0.zip on AVSIM
Barry
Ps. All flightplans in the Davis Monthan package were created using that Tool, over 60 A10's and quiet a few C-130's...

Probably one of the best "semi-"tutorials on flightplanning is Lee Swordy's original tTools manual. That seems to be the basis for most subesquent flightplanning explanations.
While tTools is for FS9 itself, the information in the manual/readme file is readily usable in FSX flightplanning.
Definitely take the time to search for it at avsim.com, read it and then you should be able to follow what Flight Planner is doing.
Like Ron said, you gotta have the basics before moving on to something that "makes things easier" but doesn't seem to work for you.
We'll be around when you have specific questions and can describe the situation so that we can help you troubleshoot.
Good luck.
