Thank you for the EP-3 Package!

Post by retnavycpo »

First off, I want to thank everyone for designing and releasing this package! I retired from VQ-1 at NAS Whidbey Island in 1997, and this release means a great deal to me. Thank you , thank you, THANK YOU!!

Now then, with regards to this package working in FSX. Scott1 stated in a previous post:

here's a funny thing. If you install the package into fsx it works without using any of the conversion programs. I have Osan installed in fsx and it has ai aircraft at the base and in the air.

I am not a purist for the most part, so I don't care if the aircraft are operating on incorrect days/times, etc.... So with that in mind, will this package install the same way into FSX as it will FS9? Or do I need to install manually?

Thanks again.

Pete, I can't say how it will react in FSX. All I can do is point you to the stickied thread at the top of this forum regarding installing our packages in FSX. Since none of us use or test with FSX, we really don't know how they will work or install in that platform. Certainly there are users here who should be able to help you with FSX related issues. May take them a couple days to get around to seeing this thread but someone will chime in eventually.

My son is currently assigned to VQ-1 at Whidbey, he just got back from Japan about a month ago. He's a weapons aviator (sorry if I got it wrong I'm ex-Air Force).

I recommend that you install manually for FSX.

Aircraft should go into ..Simobjects\Aircraft not the FS9 directory folder FS9\Aircraft. (Personally, I separate my flyables and AI into their own ..Simobjects folders. It's easier to keep them straight after a while. Remember you have to modify the FSX.cfg file to make this work, however.)

The rest is a pretty straight forward manual copy procedure if you are not going to convert the traffic bgl to FSX using something like FP_FS9_FSX.

I had no problem with doing a manual install... I'd previously installed the JS KNIP scenery, so all I needed to do was update/swap out the old afcad for this one.

No AI EP-3s showing up in FS9

Post by retnavycpo »

I finally got around to installing this in FS9. I followed the instructions, or thought I had, but there are NO AI EP-3s showing up. I have the AI P-3s from John Stinstrom's great scenery, and A-6s, C-9s, etc.... but zero EP-3s, which is really what I want to see. The AI EP-3s are in the aircraft folder. Am I supposed to do something else? My traffic density is maxed.

Any help here?

Thanks.

I retired from VQ-1 in 97. I was their Line Div. CPO for four years. Loved it. Pete
