I bought it for my wife (yes my wife!! :D ), and it certainly looks a good read with the added bonus that a percentage of the profits will be donated to Help For Heroes. I'd also recommend Joint Force Harrier by Ade Orchard if you haven't already read it. 8) The entire profit is being split between Combat Stress and the RNHF where Ade flies the Sea Fury.

I'm also looking forward to adding some Apache's to WTM as it's a touch bare at the moment, I'm just gutted that the new Apache from Alphasim is FSX only. :(

Im just reading the Harrier book

I have just read the other Apache book by Ed Macey, equally as good a read
particularly the bit when they strap to Royal Marines on the outside for which he received the MC

I can highly recommend both Apache and Apache Dawn, both are a superb read, as is Sniper 1 by Dan Mills, these books really bring it home what our guys and girls are doing out there, makes me almost wish I’d have stayed in past 2002 (my 15 year point), to do my bit. Well done and thank you to the serving.

Oh and please keep these amazing AI packages coming, they really are superb – I showed a friend of mine who is a serving pilot in the RAF my setup and he was gobsmacked, I can also tell you that FSX with VFR terrain and photo textures installed knocks spots of RAF Valleys multi-million pound flight sim, as I get to fly it regularly. The only thing the Hawk sim does better is the field of view and the full cockpit you sit in, even the flight model isn’t that much better. (in my view, but I’m not a pilot!).

PS – Sorry for the thread creep.

This one is good for FSX with just a bit of a tweak on the rotor textures...

Great model Nick....

I can believe that actually, even FS9 with all the bells and whistles is simply superb, which is why I never "upgraded" to FSX. There are headworn devices available which allow for 360 degree vision, that's obviously the closest we'll see to a real cockpit such as your Hawk sim. There's one here http://flyvr920.com/

BTW I'm very envious, I love the Hawk and would love a chance to fly on the sim! I've flown the F-15E sim at RAF Lakenheath, but it's not quite the same as the canopy is blacked out, and the only visability is through the HUD.

Hi guys,

I'm busy on my Balad AB project, using some AH-64 models from the superb Simmons AAF package. I noticed something strange. When the Apaches take off (from a normal runway) the Hydra rocket pods separate from the fuselage. A little later (retract flaps?) they join it again. Someone seen this before?

David can you give us a screen shot? This might be a LOD issue, we've actually seen this before in testing.

Probably just something to live with. I doubt Nick comes out of sabbatical to change it.

I found this when testing the KRDU pack. Nick sent Des he's latest model and it fixed the problem. I'm thinking has this early model found it's way into the simmons pack? I think it would be worth swapping the model.mdl file with the corresponding one in the KRDU pack. See if it solves it.
