I saw a thread in the ARC models forum about this helo. I actully have a 1/32 Apache A-model that was given to me some years ago.

Seeing that thread has tempted me to build models again...and it certainly tempted me to do a repaint for FS9.

Hope you don't mind Nick. :oops:

I believe that scheme was first introduced by the South Carolina ANG AH-64A unit during a Iraqi deployment back in 2004 and is styled on USMC AH-1W's. I'd read somewhere it didn't meet with approval at higher level so I assumed it had fallen into disuse but if this pic was taken in 2007 then that might be wrong. Nick, remember my PM's about them? Be nice if they are being done for a package to put at McEntire alongside the F-16's also there. Apologises if I'm jumping ahead and it is planned but just a heads up incase not - the 2.75 pods were also painted grey and a emblem of some description resembling a palm tree is used by the unit on the rear of the engine pod - just visible in the airliners.net pic.

My opinion of the bird and it's paint job...

Yea, thou I fly through valleys in the shadow of death,
I fear not opposing weaponry;
My sensors detect emissions all around me;
My rod and my staff,
They strike out from and for me,
Spitting heat and explosives,
Decimating, decapitating and setting aflame
Those who would dare try harm me.

The Almighty may not want to sort it all out when I am done
There won't be any large pieces left and those might be a bit crispy
I AM the meanset SOB.
IT IS MY VALLEY
Don't believe it?
Bang
You're dead.
Any other opinions in opposition??

This was my inspiration. The thread on this model build can be found in the Helo forums at ARC.

Sorry. ARC is a forum for people who build plastic models.
In cruising the forums I've run across lots of reference material.

Plus I'm a modeller of WW2 aircraft so this just keeps me going.

Here you go.

Thanks.
I used to love to build plastic models - and WW2 aircraft was "my thing". I'll have to take a look.

Hi Kevin
Nice work on the Apache. If Nick aproves it, will you upload it anywhere? Or could you just send the textures if requested? Thanks. Lewis

I'm not sure if the textures are Nicks or Andy's.

If he/they allow me to distribute them then of course I'd be more than happy to share.

But, they are quite crude and unfinished. Not up to MAIW's level of wor :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
