Red Arrows formation

Post by ricki429 »

Just wondering whether a red arrows vixen formation could work as AI - and when the flaps come down they can move into a straight line a breast formation so it looks ok on the ground?
i dont no much about AI modelling but is it achievable?

Thanks

I'm not a modeller but this I can say. If you model a 4 ship formation it stays in that formation always. It is essentially 1 model.

The way to get single aircraft formations is to flightplan them. That in itself can be a very time consuming effort.
But when completed it looks great.

i understand its one model - but has been done with a flyable 9 ship diamond - even a 4 ship that changes formation but not for AI?.....

It probably can be done, but that would be a TON of work to do what with all the LODs and such.

Wouldn't so much be the LODs that would be a nightmare.

You would need to model the first aircraft with a main node. Then connect every other part to that node.
Each subsequent plane would have its main node as a child of the 1st models main node, and so on, and so on.
You could then use XML to move the other models main node around based on specific conditions.
I wouldn't like to do it LOLOLOL.

Got little enough hair left as it is without trying to do that lol.

Kevin

Cant wait to see some of the models you were working on all finished.
The V22/T-6 and RQ-1 were looking great...

Nice thing is that we can plug the T-6 II into already existing flightplans in from the Tweets package. Saves us a ton of work.
