Russian military add-ons.
guys,
I spend a few hours looking over the AvsimRu files. There is quite a bit of stuff there. You should check it out.
I found a few packages for military and most of them come with AI models and traffic files. Some models are not AI specific but some are. So there is a mix.
I've installed them and found them to be fairly nice.
Here are the links. Give them a look.
I can post some pix for those who are not sure....
These links will take you to the pages. Just look thru each page and pick out the military files.
Look for pics of military aircraft and/or the word 'aerodroma'.

Good post, links and point, Kevin.
I have used that site multiple times before but usually forget that my transliterations of airport names from Cyrillic (which has 4 different fonts/type codings in Windows) to English screwed up "search"es for different sceneries. What I've found most productive is just spending the time to go page by page through their library - which is what it looks like you did also. I'm extremely impressed with their Vladivostok-Kneivichi and Petropavlovsk-Yelizovo sceneries. The Sokol-Sakhalinsk package is also pretty nice. I just wish they were FSX compatible as-is.

If someone could convert some of those api objects to mdl's I'd be in Instant Scenery heaven. Those guys have a huge library of things ranging from helos to radars to vehicles to ...... Sigh. I can only wish.
Edit: I know there is no way to auto-convert them..... They'd need to be modelled in gmax/FSDS. That was why the sigh... prob more work than any modeller wants to do.

Well, Instant Scenery was written by the same guy who wrote EZ-Scenery and IS doesn't seem to be able to use the bgls in most of these avsim.ru sceneries. Now, if you guys can tell me what I am doing wrong if EZ scenery DOES allow the use of these bgls - like in the Yelizovo scenery - then I will take my hat off to you, owe you my first born, all that sort of thing. I'd love to be shown the error of my ways here.

Instnat Scenery works in both FSX and FS9. I am only using it in FSX.
You can tell IS to "open scenery" bgls via a button option - and I've successfully done so with various sceneries/bgls/libraries that didn't otherwise show up "normally". This "open scenry" button is right next to the "add object" button on the left side.
Edited to add: To add scenery objects from add-on libraries you have, click the Options button to open the Options dialog box. Enable Add-on global libraries and Add-on local libraries.
Default global libraries are default libraries with objects you can place anywhere in the FS world.
Default local libraries are default libraries with objects that can only be placed in a specific area. For example, Chicago.bgl contains some objects that can only be placed in the Chicago area. When you enable this option, only local libraries that are available at the plane location will be listed.
Add-on global libraries are add-on libraries with objects you can place anywhere in the FS world.
Add-on local libraries are add-on libraries that are restricted to certain geographic locations. An example would be a library with objects designed for a specific scenery.
I'm all but convinced that the bgls being used by the guys contributing to avsim.ru are using a combination of mdls, macros and api's (also possibly something developed earlier - the .scn files ) which is not readable/usable in FSX though it shows up in FS9. I do know that neither maros nor api's are supported in FSX. I don't have enough knowledge of any of these things to determine the specifics, but transliterating some of the accompanying Cyrillic documents to English supports that idea.
As I said, sigh.
