Kubinka AB and the Russian Knights

Post by Ford Friendly »

A short diversion away from the cold of the frozen north/Kola

Started playing with Kubinka AB, 40mi SW of Moscow. And who was there but the Russian Knights display team.

Kubinka_Cargo and transport activity

The Russian Knights do not have Kubinka AB all to themselves. Cargo and transport activity is also evident.

Actually, this is "just my takeon "/reworking of a Kubinka package (FS2004 Scenery--Z25S Kubinka Air Base by Mike Ratliff., filname kubinka.zip) that showed up on Fltsim.com yesterday. It was made for FS9 but when I compared it to GoogleEarth, I was dissatisfied with how it lined up with my FSX installation.

So, I remade the afcad completely in AFX, decompiled and modified the included traffic.bgl and am in the process of replacing most of the scenery objects (minus the FSX-incompatible trees). The pictures are what resulted - far from a complete or completed package.

My suggestion for FS9 users is to try the already existing package out. I think most people would be more than satisifed with what Mike Ratliff provided for FS9 - and maybe even a straight installation of that into FSX. He has some nicer objects than I've been able to find and use for my setup.

I was just showing off some screenies here after playing around. But I'll take it as a compliment that you suggested 2 hours work on my part might be worthy of packaging/releasing. Perhaps I will if I can get the necessary permissions.
