Hi, Installing scenery (Caritat lfmo, Orange)?!

Post by wiwa23 »

Hello,

Via the VRS Superbug community I got to know MAIW. Very glad I did! What a truly wonderfull discovery! So, with this I want to show my gratitude to MIAW! I'm very happy with it!

Next to this I thought this would be a good place to ask the following question. Recently I downloaded the Caritat, orange Airforce base from (http://simviation.com/fs2004scenery97.htm).

I made a folder in addon scenery called LFMO or Caritat. That's where I extracted the file. I activted the scenery within flightsimulator but after closing and starting it back up, I can't see anything new?! I did several attemps.

What did I do wrong? The file contains a scenery and a texture file. Does it has something to do with the french AB from MAIW ,or it's afcads? Or do I need something else? Can somebody help me?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, Wiwa, but its not a MAIW built scenery so we can't answer questions about it. Try asking the author.

What you have said that you have done sounds right though.

If you find that there is a problem and a solution please post it here so that others may find it useful.
Thanks.
Steve

Hi Wiwa

Have downloaded the scenery and had a look into the ZIP-Archive.
If you create a folder something like:
...\Addon Scenery\Orange (LFMO)\scenery
...\Addon Scenery\Orange (LFMO)\texture
...\Addon Scenery\Orange (LFMO)\scenery.dat <-- remove this file!
you might need to remove the file scenery.dat which originates from the author and points to wrong places. The file is created again when FS starts after having activated the scenery.

and then drop the repective fils in there.
Now you should be able to activate the scenery as expected.
Good Luck

Edit
opening the scenery.dat provided in the ZIP-Archive reveals the oroginal installation used a folder named ...\LFMO\...

Under the circumstances, I took a quick look.

I can confirm that not all the scenery appears as pictures show on the the site that hosts it http://www.frenchairforce.fr.
It would seem that there must be some library that their scenery uses that is not included in the package.

If the author has retired the members of that organisation might be able to help, as it was made for them.

Now you have got my interest. If you find the solution I would like to have it to.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Wiwa

Have installed the scenery as outlined in my previous post.
Removed the scenery.dat file and it appeared OK.

Hey,

Very friendly to take your time for this, thank you! This is appreciated.
However, I did not manage to get the scenery installed correctly.

I created a folder called 'lfmo' in the addon scenery map. I included the texture and scenery files. I deleted the scenery.dat file. Activated in FS. Closed FS, started again. But it looks like the default scenery appears.

Next to this I tried other things, all with the same result. So you're saying that you got the total scenery with buildings, hangers, fences, mirage 2000's,...?

Hmm... maybe something with my addons like, global 2008, or ground environment pro or real invironment..?

I tried to contact one of the owners of http://www.frenchairforce.fr. I send a mail to one of the owners. We'll see if I can reach them.

But if you have any further advise, don't hasitate! Everythings is and will be appreciated! Thanks!

Weird. I checked and found that I had automatically deleted the scenery.dat . I have some scenery like static Mirages, Transall and a few small addons but no big hangars like there is supposed to be, so I guess like Wiwa I am missing some global scenery.

I guess I will have to hope that somebody has the answer, or comes out with some newer scenery.
