Anti-military protesters disrupt homecoming parade

Post by CelticWarrior »

I despair for the state of my country when scum like this can even consider what they do to be right.

Not looking to get anything started here, but why was the media coverage such that the number of protesters wasn't mentioned (a very small group-maybe 7 or 8), nor was there mention of the shouts Alla Akbar. I viewed the video several times, and I could clearly hear what was being said, and could see that the protesters were all bearded males, some with distinctive attair etc. Why not call a spade a spade?

This type of "spun" coverage is rampant here as well. I feel we have as much right to know who is doing this as they have the right to express themselve - albeit it should not be anonomously! We need to be more vocal about our objections to the behavior of those whom assault our freedoms, allowing them to take away our freedoms by not exercising them ourselves! Harass and counter protest! Fight back or roll over!

News is all about making money. Most news companies, at least here in the US are owned by huge corporations.
Things get edited to show what they believe to be the truth or to simply incite you to some degree.
This is why I rarely watch or read news these days.

I have to say I know a lot of people in the Muslim community in my part of the UK and they fully support what the Allies are doing both in Afghanistan and Iraq asmost of them are refugees from the various former regimes.

They have an interesting view of suicide bombers / terrorists. One said to me that they will go to Hell not Paradise as Allah gives us our bodies and to defile them by killing is an offence to Allah.

As always a small extremist group brings an entire section of the community into disrepute.

BTW, after some additional thought, I'd like to add a little clarification to what I said about.

I am not advocating that a small group of special interests be muzzeled 'cause they don't support my personal point of view. After all, some of those folks may have an issue driven by the fact that they have close relatives in the places where the action is taking place, and believe that the best thing to protect they familys from harm is to just allow the status quo, without our "outsider" interference. Perhaps true, altho I personally believe that what we do there (anywhere in the sand right now, altho I forsee some involvement in other areas in the future) is, in the end, the most beneficial for their familys as well as mine! Still, they should speak out, debate and perhaps persuade another point of view! In fact I feel it is a citizens duty to advocate for his own point of view - as long as laws arn't broken, and others rights are not infringed.

What I was going on about is the media. In this case, the media seems to want us to believe that the objections were being voiced by an eclectic cross section of the citizenry rather than a small special interest group. If this had been a more diverse group, with an undefinable objective other than to trash the honorable men whom had served their nations, then, indeed that would mean that they are nothing more than scum - anarchist, etc.

I can only agree to a small extent that the media motivation is money, altho partially so. In the US a number of major newspapers/radio stations and at least one or two major tv/cable netgworks are going down due to loss of audience because of their heavy handed/one side presentation of the news and opinions. The loss of revenue doesn't seem to have any effect on their behavior. Their choosen message is, apparently, more important than their financial well being!

IOW they already know what we should think, and come hell or high water, they will report in a manner designed to make sure we arrive at the pre-determined correct conclusions. The real, great threat to freedom is the media (and maybe to a lesser extent - bad teachers, lawyers and politicians!).

And the crying shame of it is that nowadays there are far too many that are not able to see through this manipulation! Oh Lordy - save us!

That's very interesting, I did not know that with regards to the "body" in the afterlife. Thanks for sharing that!

As far as the video goes, reminds me of a European version of the Westboro Baptist Church located in Kansas, those people just make me sick
