Update to MAIW VOBR afcad

Post by Ford Friendly »

In looking at the most recent satellite pictures and other source data for Bidar, India (VOBR) as a result of a post in another thread, I found that the MAIW afcad is a bit dated in that both runways have been extended since the MAIW afcad was published.

For anyone who is interested, I've modified the MAIW VOBR default afcad to reflect that imagery by adjusting the runway/taxiway locations slightly as well as the runway overrun areas. I have also added additional parking spots in places which match either the location of planes actually seen in those satellite pics or where apronway centerlines to unoccupied parking spots were observable.

Note that I specifically did not adjust the parking sizes used by the MAIW afcad. Aircraft did show up as expected in FSX!

Hardstands/concrete areas were adjusted/enlarged where necessary and I deleted one large hardened area from the MAIW afcad as I believe that it is not used for aircraft parking.

I don't know if the MAIW exclude bgl needs to be adjusted as I don't run FS9. I do know that I needed to enlarge the airport boundary and create new excludes to make this afcad work in FSX.[/i]

PLEASE open this afcad and the MAIW one side by side to compare the differences.

This afcad was modified in AFX directly from the MAIW one and saved in FS9 format. Modify using afcad2 at your own peril. (Opening it with afcad2 in order to look at it shouldn't damage it so long as no changes are made and it is not saved using afcad2.)

Use or not at your discretion. Modify or not at your whim.

This is offered to reflect new data not as a criticism of the "offical" MAIW afcad.

I will not provide any support for this afcad other than what I have already written. No feedback is desired. If any of the changes reflected here are incorporated into the "official" MAIW afcad in the future, please do not acknowledge me as a resource for them.
