I have all of the USAF a/c that HJG put out (RC-135, KC-135, E-3....)

The model itself is superb for freeware, but it's so detailed that I doubt it would be feasible to use as AI. As far as actual numbers for LOD/Poly count I have no idea. You can get a panel and sounds from their website too, also very well done. I would recommend it only as a player a/c.

It is freeware though, so go ahead and try it out as AI it's not like you're paying money to test it

It would be great if they were good for AI. I made a stop in Offutt yesterday and I forgot that the PAI *C-135 aircraft are all the same.
No bulges on the sides or extended noses. Sure would be nice to have them flying around

Anyone got a link. I can dowload it and check it in ACM for the poly count.

Survey says - 34,263 polygons

For comparison the PAI KC-135 has 4350 polys at LOD1.

From the HJG FAQ page,
HJG aircraft are not designed to be used as AI aircraft. Because of their level of detail and number of parts, they will cause poor frame rates if used as AI aircraft. Any use of HJG aircraft as AI models will not be supported.

Look at it this way, 34000 polys is equal to looking at about 9 PAI KC-135s at LOD1. Chances are, you wouldn't be able to see all nine of them at LOD1 due to their size and the spacing that they would have between them.

Fear not, RC-135 and in fact an entire new generation of the C-135 series for AI use is on the "to do" list.

Say it isn't so :smt026
I wish I had the modelling skills that I could help finish up Rysiek's F/A-18 project. I have FSDS 3.5 and I just can't seem to get the hang of it, that and repainting.

I look forward to running the beta whenever it shows up :D

I don't know whether its available as freeware or not yet, but the Alphasim Beale has an RC-135 in it. only 1 LOD but around 4000 polys, its got to be a useful stopgap if you can get it.

I use the HJG models in FSX and don't have too much of a problem except at their homebase. You normally only get one at a distant/transient base at a time, so it's a hit, but not something which makes the sim unflyable. More than 4 and I begin to feel a significant impact.

It's definitely no greater hit than a PMDG aircraft when you only see one at a time.
Why waste 'trons for a snappy signature when I can use this?
