Military AI in flight

K I tried to search the forums but I'm bad at searching, never know what to type in the box. Anywhoo 1.) at all the AFB's I install or use there are only cargo planes on them, are they're combat planes like f-15's or f-16's or anything supossed to be there? 2) They never leave the ground they just stay parked all the time.

I'm definatly a newb at the whole AI thing So I'll just give you my specs to see if someone can help

I'm running Vista x86 ultimate with sp1
Flight Simulator X with accellerator in a separate file path than windows
Windows is on C:\ FSX is on J:\ along with all my other installed games.

we need to know what packages your downloading. this can help to identify why fighters may not be showing up.

Are there any MAIW_xxx aircrafts folder in your fs9 aircraft folder? Like MAIW_NBAI_F-15E_SeymourJohnson,etc?

If the aircraft are sitting on the tarmac, then they are working properly. Please remember that we try to simulate real world operations as closely as possible, and that means that for large parts of the day Fighters are not active, especially weekends. I suggest watching at different times of the day, or downloading a utility like Traffic View Board and checking that to see what time your AI will be moving.

yes there were aircraft named like that (remember I'm running FSX so its my simobjects>aircraft Folder) and i understand the flight plan stuff thats why i tried changing the time to day and different day's of the week but there are still no combat jets on the ground let alone any of them moving. Since i had a bunch of add ons installed preveious to maiw and woai like my traffic x I'm doing a complete reinstall of fsx to see if any of the add ons might have been interfereing

Check the Aircraft.txt and open the MAIW_XXX_XXX's Aircraft.cfg and check the title= and match it with the aircraft.txt (like, AC#1,400,"MAIW_NBAI_F-15E_XXXX, it has to be the same with title=MAIW_NBAI_F-15E_XXXX,etc.). they have to be same or you can't see the aircraft.

Erm, I read it that actually it is that he can't see them. And those cargo planes that can be seen, are not flying.

When you say that the packages are installed in FSX, did you follow the FSX installation guide linked to elsewhere on the forum?

Also I would recommend downloading and running ACA2007 lite http://aifs.pvdveen.net/download.htm
To see if it picks up any problems. As it saves the errors to a txt file you can always zip it and attach it here if you can't see the problems from that.

ok I have done a full reinstall the only airport that has aircraft at all let alone parked now is Eielson AFB which I think was a full package not using the separate installer. I followed the installing maiw in fsx to the letter selected day for the time of day and monday for the day of the week used hill abf for testing and no aircraft, also durring startup all aircraft starting with maiw gives me the error that similar aircraft must have unique names durring start up.

You get that error on FSX startup, well what do you know.

Did you use that ACA2007 tool?

Yeah but It didn't fix them. They arn't identical aircraft like the name of them is the same up to the last few charachters for instance WoA_HTAI_C-130H_RCH_XX_142_84-0208 identical to WoA_HTAI_C-130H_RCH_XX_142_84-0212 The last two digits are different in the first it ends with 08 and the second 12

The tool itself doesn't fix anything, it just lists the problems and you have to fix them manually.

If you pm the problems to me i will have a look and see if there are trends.

OK, it looks like we can work this.
Lets start with the easy one in the middle. The F117 won't show up as the sim= parm doesn't match the name of the air file. It should be the same as the other F-117s, sim=KRAI_F-117A_AI_ONLY.

Now not having FSX installed I can't tell about the outcome but in FS9 if you have duplicate names then nothing shows up as it doesn't now which fltsim entry to use.
It looks like you have installed at least package twice. Now I am not sure the implications of running the woai uninstaller when a package is installed twice, but as you would have had to move things about anyway to get it to work in FSX ( thats correct isn't it?) then you need to manually delete the problem fltsim entries.

The first one you will need to go into the MAIW\WoA_AIA_B737_W folder and alter the aircraft.cfg fle. The top 3 entries tell me that you have the first 4 entries all the same. Delete the entries for fltsim 1/2/3. If there are other fltsim entries after those ones you must remember to renumber them. Fltsim entries must start with 0 and continue in sequence.

Once you have done that, rerun acac2007 and you should see that those 3 problems have been fixed and then you move on and do the same for the others.

Once the report is clean, then we can work on one specific problem to get you working.

While I'm Positive that deleting the exctra sim spots will fix my error issue I still saved all my aircraft.cfg's before hand. real quick tho i know the first ones the b373's were dup. but the c130's all technically have different names just everything before the last set of numbers is the same like

WoA_HTAI_C-130H_RCH_XX_142_84-0206 <--- Check the 0206

WoA_HTAI_C-130H_RCH_XX_142_84-0208 <---Against the 0208

if i'm not mistaken yes its a duplicate C-130 but its the texture thats different

ok after removing all that there are no more erorrs but still no aircraft at maxwell or hill afb

It may seem that way but look again at what the error list is telling you. One example, the first one.

It saying that you have WoA_HTAI_C-130H_RCH_XX_142_84-0206 twice at fltsim.0 and flightsim.9. A simple verification of what you attached here shows that its correct, so I deleted the entry for fltsim.9. Now I didn't renumber any others yet as it will make other pairings wrong.

So I went through the rest of the list and removed 27 duplicates for the C-130H. I attach the result here, and they have all been renumbered to ensure that they all show up.

Now you rerun aca2007 again you will find that you have less errors, and then you do the same process with the other aircraft.cfg files.

When you have done that and the error list is clean then see if you still have the issue or not.
