Parking Codes

Post by Jumpshot724 »

Does anybody know if there's a way to make certain AI TYPES park at certain gates??

For example, at my KLGA's Marine Air terminal I only want EMB-175's and MD-8Xs parking there, and I don't want to have to make a new parking code for them 'cause that would just screw up all my other airports. Could I have like "DALX, E175"??

You could use a parking code that no other aircraft uses at that airport, or type in your own :?:

That's what I don't wanna do, because that'll screw up parking at every other airport

The way ai has evolved, the only way you can affect what aircraft TYPE parks where in general is by using the parking spot radius of the parking spots you wish to be reserved for this type of aircraft.

I assume you do not wish to change the airline codes of the aircraft, as this will make them park incorrectly at other airfields. You probably don't wish to change the model radii either, for similar reasons.

Therefore I suggest the first thing you do is this: Make sure the gates in question only contain the set of airline codes for ALL the aircraft that you DO want parking there. Then, by using the aircraft editor feature in afcad, identify the maximum radius of these aircraft model types (I think the MD-8X is 25m?). Set the parking radii of the parking spots to this value.

The next thing I'd do depends entirely on the resultant effect of the first thing. Have you got that far? Is it working? If not, what is happening to those aircraft, and what is parking in those spots?

Well if you don't want to use an existing parking code, then make your own up. Just type a suitable name in AFCAD when assigning it and add it to the parking code list of the aircraft.

All you got to do is make sure the parking code doesn't exist anywhere else and that only that type of aircraft is assigned to it.

I don't know about FSX, but in FS9 you can only have ONE Parking code for each model (for each entry in the cfg file), which I presume will be the airline's ICAO code, so as to ensure correct parking at other airfields. So no room for another code.

You can have as many as you like in the aircraft cfg but it will only use the first one

Unless you're using FSX.
