F-15s leaving Elmendorf
The Associated Press
Posted : Wednesday May 20, 2009 22:04:37 EDT

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Elmendorf Air Force Base is losing its F-15 fleet.

Two dozen fighter jets are heading out of the base for good as the Air Force phases out the aging relics over the next year.

The Air Force says the change will free up money for other needed for other operations.

Col. Tom Bergeson says the decision will require some shuffling of about 500 personnel assigned to F-15 operations at Elmendorf.

Bergeson says many will be reassigned to other duties on base, such as F-22 Raptors, technologically advanced fighter jets.

I would wait a while, they are also giving up 9 more 22's before October of next year. I have those serials if needed.

I thought they were keeping a certain number and upgrading them with better radar, etc. Gonna call them "Golden Eagles" or something like that, I swear I read that somewhere.

You sure that was Elmendorf and not somewhere else?? Plus, I think there were some major decisions reached this past week regarding the USAF's future, if I'm not mistaken. I know Schwartz is still pusihing for the NG Bomber platform as one of those decisions

That was for the AF in general, not neccessarily for PAED. But like you said, lots of changes from just this past week.
