FSX Models

Post by Tweek »

Sorry if this has been asked before, but searching "FSX" or "FSX models" brings up a very vague list of topics and posts, nothing really relating to what I'm trying to find out!

I've been out of the loop with regards to AI aircraft for a while, after moving over to FSX, and notice there are some great models still being produced, so it's nice to see things still progressing.

Anyway, I was just wondering if there were any true FSX AI models released, civilian or military, as opposed to the usual ones made for FS9 and then ported to FSX. I'm fully aware that you can install all the FS9 models and plans to FSX, but in my experience, the FS9 AI models actually run worse than full size FSX models. I can have an airport full of default FSX aircraft, running twice as well as an airport with three KC-135Rs, which simply won't do!

If there aren't any, then it's no big deal - I'll just have to wait a bit longer til they are being released.

Again, sorry if I've missed any similar posts, or blatently obvious references to this!

I know of no military AI models produced specifically for FSX, not sure about the civilian models though.

The only FSX made civvie models are the Aardvark and TFS ones in the UT2 payware program. They will not be released as freeware.
As far as I know nobody is planning to make FSX specific ones as FSX is , currently, no longer a going concern and puts it on the same level as FS9.
Therefore its easier to make for FS9 and use in FSX.

Now somebody will release something and make a fool out of me.

I sure hope so!

Oh well, shame if there's none to be released. My world will just have to stay AI free for a while yet!

You must have a problem there; I run 100% airline and GA traffic on my system and it runs just fine (I have the ORBX Aussie AI, ADF AI and all MAIW, WoAI and PAI packages installed). The standard FSX AI models are the same as the flyable ones, less the VC, and are quite heavy on polys.

I have considered making my AI models as FSX only but it's too restrictive; there are too many people who can't (or won't!) move to FSX from FS9 (God knows why; FSX is far superior once you have a system that will run it; FSX + FTX + Windows 7 = Simmers' Paradise!).

I seldom think of myself as God 8) , but I am well aware of why I and many others don't run "ten": A system that will run it. And when can I get Windows 7? There is absolutely no way it runs at all on the system I have now and I can manage "9" fine.

Maybe someday... paradise :)

Someone needs to come out with FS 9.5, then we'd all be happy!

:D :D

Yep, the scenery display of FSX with the AI behaviour from FS9 would be heaven!

I'll get right on that. Better yet, Danny was taking a programming class, we'll make him do it for his final exam.

Congratulations .... but of what use is that to the rest of us? Does this mean that our finances are going to be improved?

I guarantee you the AI system will be better than what Microsoft gave you. And THAT...with one semester of vbasic.
