I'm ashamed to say this ******* appears to live here in the UK.

Just read that in the AIG forums.

I feel with you as he could have been from Germany, too. The web has advantages for people like us communicating or visting forums or downloading stuff from sites like avsim but there are also people hacking those sites or spreading malware or viruses.

So was it an "inside job" like some people had speculated?

They are not speculating, but as I understand it technically you could say. I believe that the speculation concerned an 'outsider' but the person had been given access for a specific reason and abused the privilege.
I guess whether the subsequent action was deliberate and malicious, or just a really lame attempt at covering up what they had done before, that went horribly wrong, is something that only they know.

Hopefully the full story will come out some day.

Why he insists on updating the public this way is almost laughable. It's as if he's trying to maintain the pretence that they were actually hacked as opposed to screwed over by one of their own former employees (albeit a hired consultant or whatever). Maybe he feels the need to continually justify the thousands he has now got in his bank account.

Avsim hack was obviously an inside job. Even Tom implied himself in a roundabout way from day one!. The guy who was so trusted to 'Upgrade' his site somehow screwed it up with all the access passwords and other info he needed given to him by Mr. Allensworth himself. Sounds really weird. It wouldn't surprise me if not one prosecution results after all this, and in the end, this was just a giant red herring! a smoking gun without a bullet!
