RNLAF 306 Squadron at Springfield-Beckley MAP

Post by davidbernard »

I've put together a little addon to the Great lakes ANG Part1 package, which adds the F-16s from the Dutch training unit to Springfield-Beckley MAP, Ohio. René Spaan was so kind to let me include his repaints.

I've made some changes to the MAIW KSGH AFCAD to accomodate parking for the 14 F-16s (two aprons added).

As soon as the AVSIM library is online, I will upload the package.

Very cool. What do you know about the training going on there? Last I heard it was only going to last until 2010 and then the 178th FW would be disbanded. That's my home area so I'm always curious to see what's taking place.

Just uploaded to FlightSim.Com. I'll do the same for AVSIM as soon as they are up and running again.

Did some more minor mods to the AFCAD; added the RAIDER ramp and taxiway mods at the 06 end of the main runway.

Hope you like it!

There's not that much information about the future of the 306 squadron at Springfield-Beckley. I heard they are looking for more international F-16 trainees so they can maintain (afford) the F-16 infrastructure at the field when the ANG F-16s are gone. Still the contract officially ends in 2010.

That's RNLAF_306Sqn_KSGH.zip as soon as it's available there (might take some time).

Yea that's about what I've heard as well. Sounds like it might be done after this contract expires.

D-Rex,
Great job, but I had some initial issues that might help in future projects. Installed and loaded up at KSGH and nothing on the ramp. First step is to normally check traffic slider, but I knew mine. Looked up the FP's in TTools and all the traffic numbers are set to 100%, I suggest maybe 50% or so for us with lesser cpu's that can't fly with 100% traffic.

The updated AFX looks fine, but I had 2 GA's parked on the 306 ramp?

Dustoff,

Absolutely right about the traffic percentage. Will have more sympathy for modest systems in the future ;-)

Don't know about the GA. All I did at that ramp was change the original MAIW codes from 162F to 306F (162F now parks on another ramp). There's some generic mil parking on the 306 ramp, but enough GA space at the field. Maybe the atc_parking_types for that GA are incorrect or non-specified in the aircraft.cfg?

Thanks, I will look into my GA aircraft files (default C172 and DW PA28R) and make those changes. They were parked in the spare parking next to the grass, but all the F-16's looked great parked.

Just an update to a non-MAIW mini-package. Showing 6x F-16BM's and 8x F-16AM's from the Dutch made the move from Ohio and now flying out of Tucson, AZ with the 162nd FW.

Living with a few Dutch Vipers deployed got me thinking of the ones in Tucson,AZ. I moved the Springfield, OH birds down, but wanted to see if they repainted them. I'll see if I can figure out how to add the tailband and "AZ".

I've done the entire RNLAF F-16 pack in retro 1990 style but am waiting to see if Menno and I will do a package or not.
