Indian Air Force paints - anybody?

but when you look at the aircraft in profile , it should give an optical illusion of being somewhat elliptical at the top .
i have never tried that .
i am pretty sure they don't fly . there is one stored in nagpur as well .
thank you .
That is exactly what I was trying to say

If you're sure they are stored ie. withdrawn from use and not being upgraded, and it's not just misinformation broadcast by paranoid nationalists, then I will happily change the flightplans to represent this. Do you know where the aircraft are currently parked at their respective bases? I have read eyewitness accounts of at least one of the aircraft being airborne as recently as last year.
It strikes me as odd that the ARC would hang on to these birds if they have no plans for them. Not that I know anything about them, of course...
Anyway, nice work!

I don't see any issue with the weathering, personally, as I have learnt is that its easy to overdo weathering. Its better to start soft with that sort of thing and build it up if required, that make it too heavy to start with. If you are happy with it, I am happy with it.ani4may wrote:do you want me to rework the weathering .
I am not questioning your positioning of the roundel, I am sure its accurate, but I do find it a strange position to put it. If I had painted it, for real, I would have put it on the stripes just behind the rear door.

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
The roundel is exactly where the Indian Air Force/ARC have placed it, possibly so that when the aircraft is taking off/landing at various locations it is not so obvious that it is a military intelligence aircraft (harder to see from below). I don't really have an issue with the roundel - its just that as it appears so high on the fuselage, it is suffering a bit of distortion (due to the graphics effectively projecting the paintkit design onto the aircraft as if it were a cinema projector placed horizontally to the side at the same level). On the real aircraft the roundel is a perfect circle, so when viewed from the side (ground level/eye level) it is slightly distorted, due to the surface it is on facing somewhere between the horizontal and the vertical. Add to this the fact that the surface is curved, and the need for the upper part of the roundel to be progressively more distorted than the lower part (as it appears on the paintkit) is realised - if one is to replicate a perfect circle on this particular surface of the model.
But as I said, I'm not that fussed. I'm just happy that someone is even interested in the project in the first place!
Anirudh, are you sure the aircraft on the ramp at Nagpur in that aerial photo from googlemaps is an ARC aircraft? If so, I'll make sure this is reflected in the flightplans.
The B707s have been based at Charbatia, and one of them spent time at HAL Bangalore being refitted or something. Another one was refitted in Tel Aviv at one time. No aerial photos that I've found show them there, unfortunately.

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
hello,
the one in nagpur has surely been written off .
the ones in delhi strangely seem to be in the same place without moving . i have seen it in person while taking off from delhi . they looked really old at the time , 4th may 2007 to be precise .
the fps should be one or two flights per week , that too only at night .
no one has photos of it in the day doing any activity .
so is the repaint an all ok .
thank you

The one in Delhi does move: I have seen that from photos dated in the past 3 years that the one parked closest to Rwy 28 threshold in the google image (the Northernmost one) is sometimes not present. The one at Nagpur is not ARC 707. It is a derelict Boeing 720 of Atlanta Skylark (or maybe that's its name?):

Photo is from end of 2007. Google image is two years older. ARC only had two from what I can tell.
Check this thread that indicates they were still actively flying and being maintained in 2008, since you saw them in Delhi.

Anirudh, I think the intake covers look a bit too bright/artificial. Maybe you can do something with it to make it look more real...

Yep, definitely looks better...
@Anirudh:
Did you get my email? Any issues yet?

Note that if you end up doing a seperate paint for B707 K2900, then rather than an indian tricolour fin-flash, you will instead need to paint the Indian flag on the tail. See the photo with the An-32 and Gulfstream in the foreground (the one I posted twice, to show the yellow engine covers).

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
If anyone fancies it, I could do with:
K3012
K3013
K3014
as they are needed for this package I'm trying to put together. They would be very gratefully received

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
Ok, I finally found the registrations of the Learjets and the King Airs.
BSF
King Air B200:
VT-BSA
ARC
Learjet 29 (to be painted on a HTAI Lear 25 model ideally, as there won't be a Lear 29 model due to rarity):
VT-EHS
VT-EIH
King Air B200:
VT-ENL
VT-ENM
VT-EPA
Pics are hard to come by, but here is VT-EPA:

Any takers for repaints?
