Really? I would have expected them to be renumbered VFC-204 if that was the case, like the rest.
In fact if they were renumbering the chances are that they would use a lower number something like VFC-1, VFC-84 or VFC-96. Maybe VFC-43 would be the most appropriate.

75-80% of their mission tasking is for adversary support. They use the same training matrix as VFC and NSAWC squadrons for the adversary mission. They didn't take up a VFC designation as they are still a surge squadron and could be deployed with an airwing.
