Meet "Scrappy" A retro WIP

Post by MIKE JG »

Not an AI model, it's the recently made freeware A-7E Corsair II from Iris. Still a good bit of work to do but every once in blue moon I like to get out the paint brushes and prove to myself that I can still do a repaint or two. I used to watch these fly over my house as a kid growing up, they were usually headed for an MOA or range somewhere in Indiana in those days. Fond memories of these guys doing mock bombing runs complete with pyrotechnics at the Dayton Airshow in the late 80's.

This aircraft has a story behind it and I'm trying to find out what it is. Here is my repaint so far circa 1992 with the Ohio ANG's 162nd Fighter Squadron based at Springfield. The Ohio ANG and other guard units flew the D model of the "SLUF", so this is actually the navalized "E" model with a launch bar and retractable refueling probe, neither of which the D models had when they flew with the Guard. But close enough.

Here is the actual aircraft seen at an airshow in England in the late 80's:

Nice paint, always been a fan of the "SLUF" in both USN and USAF colors. Need to clean the rust off my Iris A-7 and take her for a spin.

Yea I'll post it somewhere.

I have the paintkit, I think I can save the files in whatever format you need can't I using PSP??

You're using Photoshop correct? Tell me what file extension to save it as and I'll try to attach them here.
