Planning help (Whidbey Island)

Post by Aussie »

Hi all,
Back with another question, found this website while searching for flightplans, http://naswiops.ahf.nmci.navy.mil/space-a/schedule.htm , its going to be a regular site I visit, am just after some help with things like are these all Whidbey based aircraft, callsigns/flight numbers that these flights might be using and for example the KG4-939 that routes Whidbey, Pt Mugu, Nth Island, Keesle, Jacksonville, Key West, Millington, North Island how long is the aircraft likely to stay on the ground at these stations ?

Any info would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Nice find on the Space-A flight schedule. NUW only has VR-61 assigned with C-9's, but the C-40's travel to many other NAS's and civilian fields as listed depending on mission requirements. Most Naval Air Logistics Office (NALO) flights use the squadron callsigns, as VR-58 at NAS Jacksonville would be "NAVY JV XXX", but that changes. The trend of having few "NAVY" markings on C-9's/C-40's makes this even more difficult.

On my many flights on C-9's, the crew would unload the pax/cargo, pilots refile to the next destination, and they are on their way, I would estimate maybe a 1.0-2.0hr turnaround or ground time.

Thanks Victory, I found some links for NAS North Island and Kanehoe Bay as well as Norfolk but the certificate on those sites weren't trustworthy so didnt go clicking any further. The turn around times will come in very handy and I will decide what to do with the callsigns if/when I get to the flightplans (my CO ones are taking ages) ! Cheers

I'm surprised you were able to get that info and it was made public.
DoD flight schedules are not to be viewable from a .com domain, only to see them from a .mil or a .gov domain.

Me to was googling space-a flights to see if I could find something via that way and they were on a link....it was about the only page I clicked on that didnt have an untrusted connection, the link above tells me the same thing. Im only after transport/cargo flights and the like just to add something different to my sim.

Those Whidbey flights, would the callsign be "Navy WI XXXX" or do they use a different two letter configuration ? This should be the last question on this issue ! Cheers

I would be whatever VR-61's tailcode is if they are using it still, they may have a set NALO callsign much like the "REACH" is used for USAF flights.
