NEVER FORGET

Post by MIKE JG »

For many of us, today is a somber day to remember the terrible events that happened here in the US, nine years ago on this date. I think we all remember exactly where we were and what we were doing on that day when our lives changed forever.

Never forget those who lost their lives and those who gave their lives on that day and every day since that day to keep us safe.

I was just watching a replay of that day on Fox news and it brought out the same emotions of the live events. We must never, ever forget what happened and why we must continue to seek out and bring to justice those who would do us harm.God bless America and all those who voluntarily defend her!

I was in my University office when the news came up on the BBC news feed. At first I thought it was an accident. Drove to another office where I saw the events live on a TV in an office. Later heard that my friend who worked in Tower One had change shifts that day and survived.

I was only 17 at the time, I remember it was a warm day before the school started.
My brother and I spent the morning at home then went to our grandparents to have lunch. As soon as we finished our meal we turned the TV on and saw the news. We all thought it was a film. When we came back to our house the first tower collapsed.
It looked so unreal to see such famous landmarks that dominated one fo the most beautiful cities in the world disappear in a few minutes, just unbelievable.
Last July I visited NY for the first time in my life and also went to Ground Zero. Only when I saw how big it is with my own eyes I could make an idea about the dimension of this tragedy.
May all those souls rest in peace, and may this enormous human sacrifice make us understand that more than ever the world needs to be as one.

I was on deployment and we were making a port call in Malta. I watched on a TV at the guard house at the head of the pier the planes crashing in while waiting for the liberty bus. About 15 min later we were recalled to the ship and gone in another 30. We left about 20 blokes behind as they were already in town. Thanks to the crew of the HMS Illustrious for picking up our guys and xfering them to us.

I was on safari in Manyeleti National Park in South Africa and didn't find out until I saw a TV in Johannesburg the next day! Couldn't believe what I was watching.

I was at school-came home and the first thing I saw was a picture of one of the jets hitting the first tower. I don't think I'll ever forget it.
