I am able to add the MAIW Excludes folder to 'Settings' -> 'addon scenery' in FSX, but not the other 3...does anyone have an idea of what might be my problem? thanx
Is your FSX installed on the program files (x86) drive? (my FSX put it in that location by default) I had my fsx installed at that default location and it was nothing but trouble because I needed administrator rights. I did a reinstall at another location away from that folder and have had a much easier time adding scenery and repaints.
Yes mine is installed in the x86 section. I didn't know that installing it there would create problems o.O? Where is the best place to reinstall it?
thanx
edit: Ya I have tried to install 2 MAIW packages twice now and I see no aircraft at all. I have gone through every hour of the day in each season...hmmm
Have you tried putting the slider in your FSX traffic up, as the percentage of traffic might not be enough in FSX to show any aircraft, eg: the MAIW traffic file might be set at 40% & your FSX traffic might be only set at 30%, so you would not see any aircraft?.
I also had trouble activating add on scenery in FSX, but all you need to do is open the scenery file you want in addon scenery & click in the white area & it will then show.
So I did another reinstall of everything and I was able to add the MAIW files to the scenery library in FSX~
MAIW Airports
MAIW Excludes
MAIW Landclass
MAIW Scenery
I then started FSX and tried many different seasons and times but still see no AI :/
Have you put your aircraft from the MAIW package in your sim objects/aircraft folder?
This is what I have done, but you can also make up your own AI aircraft folder so I have read on other posts. The other thing it might be is the MAIW traffic file. This goes in the scenery/world/scenery folder in FSX, have you done that yet?
I have Win 7 hp 64bit also & it seems to work on mine ok. I will see where all my MAIW stuff is in FSX, when I get home from work later.

I have discovered that if I install FS9 AI flight plans while FSX flight plans exist, I end up with empty airports in the region where FS9 flights exist. From what I remember, the days of the week are numbered differently for both versions. Programs such as AI FP Compiler/Decompiler and AI Flight Planner can be used to convert the schedules.
woot, you where right There were two traffic .bgl files that were not converted to FSX format in the ai flight planner program, so since they wouldn't convert, I just manually added them as is to scenery/world/scenery folder and the AI appeared.

thanx for your help guys
That's good to know. It seems like I still had problems before when I discovered unconverted files in the "scenery/world/scenery" folder. Currently I separate all of my traffic by type of aircraft usage and by region and add those folders through the scenery library and put them at high priority.
For example: Addon Scenery/Traffic Military/Scenery contains military related .bgl files. Addon Scenery/Traffic Pacific GA/Scenery contains .bgl files just for GA in Hawaii
I even go to extreme to turn off or move traffic out when I'm not in the area where those associated planes would be seen. So far I can't tell what method of storing and loading traffic works better or worse. This just gives me better management. So when I do encounter the vanishing AI, I can isolate the location where new files were added and evaluate the problem closer.
