Static Aircraft for Scenery
FYI . . . . Over on FlightSim there's a new download that claims to make static aircraft out of flyable and AI aircraft. I've downloaded it, but haven't tried it out as of yet. File name is SAMM 1000.zip.

I've been following the development of SAMM (Static Aircraft Model Maker) over at FS Developer.com and waiting for its actual release in order to try it out. It looks like it may be a nice program to make some static display models with.

Re: Static Aircraft for Scenery
I'm in the process of learning how to use SAMM and it appears to work great for converting FS9 flyable or AI models to scenery objects or scenery objects in scenery libraries. One nice feature is the ability to set it up to have the models animations in whatever position you so desire. For example I have been using a USN E-2C Hawkeye as my test aircraft and have created 2 scenery objects, one with the wings folded and one with the wings extended. Unfortunately the scenery bgl and texture bmp files created for flyable aircraft can be large dependent on the size of the original model and textures, so using MAIW aircraft will probably work best if FPS are a concern.
