RAF L1011's

Post by CAFedm »

I felt the lack of L1011's in FS enough to come up with some repaints for the RAF birds. The model is from Charles Dayhuff (L1011-500), a dedicated AI version, with some tweaks to the model file to reduce reflectiveness of the fuselage and enhance others, such as the intake leading edges. Am quite happy with the result, here are a few of them parked at Brize Norton awaiting their next departure. If anyone may be interested in these repaints, please let me know and if so, the preferred site at which they should be uploaded to. Cheers.

Nice.

Well it would be great to upload the paints themselves to avsim.com or flightsim.com, but you would need permission from CD to upload an edited model.

I would definitely get in touch with Charles beforehand.

Thanks everyone, it's ready at Avsim (filename = cdai_l1011_raf.zip). A word about testing beforehand - I found an odd problem only visible on the night textures that were corrected at the last minute. It definitely pays to be thorough in checking everything out.

Nice textures :D
Regarding the Callsign RAFAIR used with all the textures. 216 Squadron Callsign is FAGIN and is a voice mod made by Nick Black and possibly in your editvoice installation. The other mainly used callsign will be ASCOT with numbers 0803 to 0825, 1100 to 1199, 3000 to 3999, 6000 to 6599, 9402 to 9475. If I recall the number range used depends on the route being flown.

Ed Kooymans flightplans are 6 years old, no flights to Kandahar or to some of the places visited according to 2010 photo's on airliners.net.
I was thinking of doing some more up to date ones if anyone is interested.

Update from previous post.
Ascot 3200 Transport to Falklands Only 216 or civil airliner operating for for RAF.
Ascot 801-919 Test/Currency/Tactical
Ascot 9101-9499 Deployment Tanker Trails
