WOAI traffic is, as far as I know, in FS9 format, but I'm not an expert on that, so you might want to go to their forum and verify.

Have you verified the size of the parking spaces? If too small, the a/c will not appear. I seem to remember reading something about FSX having an effect on the size of parking spaces, but not sure as my memory is not what it used to be a year ago. Good luck with fixing your problem.

Found the problem.

All the other packs I had tried to install the "FSX Fix" and therefore had their files in a new file in simobjects. These ones, and a few others I had just run the installer and while the flight plans and scenery had gone to the right place, I'm therefore guessing the files are the same in FS9 and FSX the aircraft files had gone to the FS9 location therefore FSX was ignoring them.

DaveP, from what you just said I'm guessing you use the MAIW installer to add the packages into FSX and not by using the Owls Nest guide and install them manually, is that correct?

Yes but it seems to work fine. I've solved the AWACS and C-17 issue.

It seems as long as you are using only WOAI traffic then you can use this no problem in FSX without going through that guide. The only problem I've found is that the installer installs the aircraft files into the FS9 (..../aircraft) location rather than the FSX location .../SimObjects/Airplanes) meaning they don't appear. They just need to be moved manually. None of that converting of files and things.

The scenery and flight plans go to the right place by default and work fine.

Re: Nellis Air Force Base package by MAIW: Part II

Post by SRAces »

All,

I hope this is the right place to post my question as I haven't messed with scenary files, ACADS, etc, for years. I downloaded the Nellis AFB scenary package. I'm running FSX SP2. I decided to just add the base scenery and textue files for the base so it would look better than the default airfield that comes with FSX. It looks great!

If I wanted to add parked (static) aircraft for now and not worry with moving AI aircraft, is that possible? I also noticed that my tower views are way too high. I guess I'll have to research where to adjust it. Probably the AFCAD file.

Been a flight simmer since my Apple IIe days on Sublogic's original Flight Simulator. Nellis was my first duty station as a 21 year old Avionics Maintenance troop assigned to the 474th Tactical Fighter Wing way back in 1976-77. I love the website and plan on spending more time learning.

Nellis tree problem

Post by MJDykas »

I loaded Nellis into FSX many many months ago and it was spectacular !!! One of my favorite places to fly to or from ! Just tonight I plan a flight from Nellis only to find that trees have sprouted up all over the place. I have no idea or clue as to why they are showing up now? I have not loaded anything remotely close to it recently, so I don't even know of anything to remove that might of caused it, if that was the case at all. Any help on this situation would be much appreciated !!!

For those of you looking for help with the Nellis scenery in FSX, try over at Simouthouse.com There are some guys over there that seem to have converted it pretty well to use in that platform.

Just search "Nellis" in their FSX forums.

INstalled Nellis the other day and a lot of the buildings and reventment walls are black. I assume I am missing some libraries. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Just downloaded MAIW Alaska and Islands ANG file using WOAI installer Version 2.04 (FSX). I get a MICROSOFT.NET Framework error message
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Index was outside the bounds of the array" I've tried other files (AMC West Coast C-17s, Neilis AFB) got same error message.
Was able to install Dyess AFB and Maxwell AFB without the error message. Any idea's on the fix?

The WOAI installer will only install WOAI packages. They do host some of MAIW early packages, but not packages made in the last 3 years.

You sound like a bloke with his head around this stuff for FSX conversion of MAIW packages, you would make a great addition to the team in handling this stuff.

OK I have the util installed and ran it against the txt files and got the same error, but it is not very helpful.

What I did was run the plans through AIFPv2, and it showed up AC#20 as being the problem. Several legs have a height of 0' for the leg. You will need to amend these. In case you are not sure how to amend them I have attached the modified file here.

I have tried it in AIFPC and it will compile now.

You may wish to try compiling the raw text files through AIFP, especially as the AIG have moved to it from the MRAI installer.

No problem. I forgot to mention that there is a pointer to the AIFP page from Martin's Owl's Nest site. http://www.interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/aifp.php

AIFP under options has a box "No check for updates on startup" If that item is unchecked, AIFP will automatically check each time you use the program for updates.
