I don't find it as easy to get at the actual packages, plus they dropped the 'packages load on' option which was bloomin' useful.

The front page is too crowded.
The new look of he file library is confusing.
The search function does not seem to work properly, yet.
Hopefully they'll at least bring back the color coding for the different simulators.

To be honest I am not really impressed by now.
You can really ruin good websites with such makeovers.

They forgot the golden rule - "If it ain't broke - don't fix it"........from the user end the old site was fine, and albeit over ten years old, it worked fine.....

Some hosting services won't let customers use certain software if they consider a security upgrade is required.

And I hate the new look too. The graphics are awful and it's much more less intuitive to navigate.

One word - shite!

Yeah, I don't mind the front page but their new library is terrible.

Although there is bound to be glitches with anything new, I have to agree with you guys. It really seems that AVSIM screwed the pooch with this one. The design is downright dis-functional compared to before and the design is pretty awful. I still don't know what was wrong with the old system.

I have tried a couple of searches and they have worked less well than the previous search system, which I found to be a pain at times. One file I did an exact name search for found nothing yet when I searched for a word not in the zip name it found it and i was able to download it.
Also I find that the titles do not stand out from the text and one package text just blends into the next. I hope that they at least amend the front end to the library.

My confidence in this new system is not high at the moment.

Looks like their "Technology Manager" (I love that title :P ) is making some updates to the code. Good to see such a positive attitude despite all the negative and mostly non-constructive comments but one wonders how much testing has gone in the new library before release... There's a loooooooooot of room for improvement.

"If it ain't broke - don't fix it" is not always an option though. I'm sure they have their reasons to move to newer technology. Maybe because the library is easier to manage, maybe because the new technology is much more secure. Don't forget they got hacked not so long ago.

To be honest, I've been looking at moving our site to more advanced technology in the future too which should give us much more functionality. The Avsim case is an excellent case study for me :D

Agree, thought I mistyped the address for a second. BTW, I generally check Avsim and Flightsim for the latest downloads, any other sites that you guys check?

I can't seem to log on for download. I'll get it sorted out later. I did do the whatever it was a couple of months ago that they had posted to verify I was ready for the change over, so don't think I should be having a problem. I'm not so happy, but will just get it worked out, as I'm sure they have valid reasons for the changes. Like some of the others above, I'm not that crazy with the appearance. But then again, as you get older, the less you like changes, and I totally hate changes -- getting too difficult for me to make the leap to new!

Gawd!!! it was a pain in the arse this morning to find anything. Plus my Malware Anti-byte flagged it as a potential threat and I had to set it to ignore just to get in.

Why do I have to retype my E-mail/password every time I wanna log on,
its a pain in the neck. I know they had to change things after the big hack
but I just hope that this is a WIP and not the finished article.
