Cold Lake Hornets

Post by redtail58554 »

Was working out at the airport today and got to see 10 Canadian Hornets stopping in for gas before going home. Apparently they just spent the last week in Key West (lucky bastards) training how to dogfight. Will get some pics loaded as soon as I can.

Too bad they didn't send 425 Sqn. These were the critters who not only won a few William Tell's with their antique 101's but on 1st try with the CF18's won that !! 8)

They used to come to New Orleans a lot when I was there for 3 or 4 weeks for a deployment. They were the only group that I can remember who would bring their own liquor to New Orleans, but oh what a party it was.

They were super nice guys. Had another one come in today along with a pair of Canadian T-6 Texan IIs out of Moose Jaw.

I have a video on Facebook of one them departing yesterday with full afterburners. I will see if I can upload somewhere else and then post the link here.

This particular flight took off around 5:30pm. The last flight went about 8 or 8:30pm. That one was spectacular to see. Wish I had video of that one.
