Thanks Jon,
They were certainly a very impressive aircraft to watch and hear.

sr01,
I probably have some slides of them tucked away somewhere too, but finding them is the problem. I also have a lot of slides of our F-102A Deuces (Delta Daggers) and of some local airshows during that era tucked away somewhere. I remember taking quite a few shots of the Thunderbirds in their F-100's and then in their T-38's.
You must have been up on the summit on Mount Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont. On a clear day you get a great view westward of the entire Lake Champlain Valley and over into the Adirondacks.

Yes, that KBTV AFCAD has much more realistic, modern ramp and hangar parking for 32 fighters, most of which have drive through parking. However, it is still a work in progress and part of a package that I am slowly (very) developing for future public release. So much time has elapsed since I started the project that some of the buildings have been demolished and new ones have been built. So I have a lot of work to do before I can even begin to think about releasing or distributing any of it
Sorry,
Mike M.
Thanks for your response.
Don't be sorry. Your work is great. Great work need time. So we can wait for it

.
Best regards.

I used to watch the F-4's at Bentwaters, they were pretty smokey.

I think the scenery is the one from Brian Gladden, available here :

There is the sema hangar in this scenery.
Yes, that VT ANG hangar is from Brian's scenery, but has been moved to a more realistic position on the ramp. Most of the other scenery on the civilian side of the runway is Brian's and I placed all the scenery on the VT ANG side myself. I did this several years ago and it is somewhat dated now and in need of a complete update.

I had attempted the ANG hangars as my first FS Design Studio project. Came out acceptable (to me). This is FSX though. Here are some screen shots of KBTV. MA ANG 102nd was visiting KBTV that day.
Some credits:
Photo real scenery is by SimSavvy (I have the full USA coverage. SimSavvy does however offer Vermont as one of the sample areas-very large downloads, but well worth it).

AFCAD and airport scenery modified from Jim Cook's excellent KBTV scenery. I modified ANG parking, added ANG hangars and new VT Army Air Guard hangars and parking.
I was invited for a personal viewing of some night takeoffs last fall and I seem to remember seeing one of the old F-4Ds parked alongside the southeastern side of the ANG hangars at that time (was I imagining things? Or did I see someone's photo? Mind ain't what it used to be.).
If someone wants the hangars, Just PM me. You may have to educate me though on just what files to send.

sprocky,
Wow! Those are real "Smokey Joe's", aren't they?
I guess it is all in how you define engine problems. As Steve posted, the original J-79 engines had a problem in that they were very smokey in full military power and it was a dead giveaway as to their location in ACM. Supposedly the so called smokeless engine upgrade fixed that, but persoanlly I am not sure if it did.

PS: It would have been great to have pilots that looked like that back in my day.

All aircraft should be smokey like that. When we had some German Phantoms at Beauvechain, I could see them turn in 10 miles out from the tower without even needing the binoculars. Makes sequencing a lot easier.

Tom,
Your scenery looks great and thanks for the tip on SimSavvy. I just built a new flightsim computer and will be venturing into FSX for the first time, so I would love to get your KBTV scenery and the Vermont SimSavvy photoreal scenery. I'll send you a PM ASAP.
Yes, there was both an F-4D and an old F-102A on the south side of the south eastern most hangar last summer. The F-4D may be 793 which is probably in need of a repaint by now. 712 is still over beside the VT NG Museum at Camp Johnson and in dire need of a repaint. I believe that those are the only remaining VT ANG F-4D's, but I may be wrong. Hopefully the VT ANG will restore the F-102A for their Heritage Museum as that is the aircraft nearest and dearest to me.

PM on the way.
Unfortunately availability of 2TB external drives is tight because of flooding in Taiwan. As such, Sim-Savvy has suspended distributing complete USA scenery (see their website), but if you e-mail them, they will work out another way to distribute the product to you. Here are a couple more photos of my KBTV FSX scenery-

Thanks Tom,
I got your message. How much HD space does that full USA package take up? I might just add another large HD to my new machine just for it.

Guys,
There should be second NMAI F-4C and D update tomorrow that includes my v1.6 FDE for all the F-4C and D models. Mike P. inadvertently included my v1.5 FDE in the original release, which has a couple of issues that were corrected in v1.6.

Do you really want to know? Here it is ------ About 1TB.
I purchased the full package a month or so ago and it was $250 for 48 states loaded on a 2TB Seagate Geoflex Free Agent external drive. Soon after I purchased it, the price went up to $299. The major part of the cost is the external hard drive (about $150 to $200). As I mentioned in an earlier e-mail, the developer of Sim-Savvy Photoreal scenery has run into problems trying to get the hard drives because of the flooding problems in Taiwan. He says that he can load scenery on drives people send him. Contact him to see how much he would charge and what coverage would be offered.
I apologize for straying off the topic. This should be about the F-4Ds.
