Take a look at this site...http://www.f22-raptor.com/ you'll notice the bird-like head. This image, or a variation, was seen on the demonstrator and prototypes, keeping the "bird of prey" naming theme...this has been done for some time in aviation...

US Army helicopters....Native American Tribes
Grumman....-cats

on the civilian side:

Beechcraft...royalty
Cessna...birds
Piper...Native American Tribes/themes

And Utah Raptor, and Oviraptor....

While you are somewhat correct(there is no such thing as a Utah Raptor, there is however a utahraptor), I believe Steve was thinking about Velociraptor.

In the beginning of the book for JP (I recommend it!) After the worker gets attacked in the beginning of the movie he is taken to an american doctor in Costa Rica, and the worker keeps whispering raptor.... but when the doc looks up the meaning of raptor the dictionary states that it is a bird of prey. So even Michael C., the author, understood that there was gonna be some confusion when he thrust the velociraptor into center stage. One of my favorite books and movies.

Another fun fact about Jurrassic Park, in real life the Velociraptor was much smaller than portrayed in the movie, about half the size. The "Velociraptor" in the movie is based more on the Utahraptor and more closely to Deinonychus.

That's just one of many "fun facts" :D
