Thanks Steve.
I still need to shake off my old habbits of making the models super light. I tend to forget that I can make a highly detailed model and then use lods to trim off the fat. This hanger model could have been so much more detailed but then I guess that also requires a lot more work on textures that I may or may not be permitted to display on these models, if you get what I mean.
Usually if it shows on Google Earth or its a matter of public record through construction partners or public photos taken on open days then that is ok but if not, then it can raise an eyebrow for some structures. The KC-30 Hanger is no secret.
In the past YAMB sceneries, this hanger has been odd sized due to limited information at that time, its pleasing to now have better information to deliver a better model. That goes for a number of new models being developed to replace older versions.

Ok, it looks like we are cooking with gas thanks to John Tennent taking on the role of ground editor and knocking out some great photo-real ground plates for me to accurately place my models upon.
John also dabbles with afcads so I'm very lucky in that regard.
It's early days, but we have a good start and things are looking bright for YAMB.
cheer's,
Mark

Thanks Tim.
Looks like Richmond may be on the budget cut list!
I've redone that last hanger again, some of the textures were dated and I had better info on hand. Also put a bit more detail onto it like spot lights. It is tweaked to 15 mile and has two levels of detail.
cheer's,

Please pay no attention to the current afcad. The one in the pic are of the 2011 version at which was not released due to me being too busy making AI aircraft and getting upset over little things that bugged me. That is now in the past and I'm backing doing what I enjoy, making scenery models of all types, shapes and sizes.

Here is a new one for the YAMB KC-30A hanger, it even has a little animation for those people that like to look around at things in there sim. The model has three levels of detail, is FS9/FSX compatable, no alpha used and being inside a hanger it is tweaked to a sight distance of just 1000m for ultimate frame rate benefits.
I kinda like it any way!

Got a bit of spare time this morning and knocked this YAMB hanger out of the way :P Not photo quality as I like so I've gone the next best thing, hand drawn off distant photos.

Still slowly plugging away at this.
Below a standard RAAF/RAF Bellman Hanger design with lods, etc.

Is that an MB-326?

Yeap sure is a MB 326.

I have a basic static model of one in the RAAF Williamtown package if your looking for one but I'd been slowly turning that into a working model. I haven't done anything to it for a while now since retiring from AI development but I may bring it back out again as a more advanced static model for RAAF Amberley scenery.
I may also make a static F1-11 and Canberra bomber for the gate guards if need be but I'll first ask John Young and Mike P if I could use there nicely designed models when and if I get that far.

Could be nice to have it in the sky together MP G-91 and F-104, but if you are retired from modelling....

Actually guy's,
If it wasn't for Johntenn coming along when he did, I think I'd be gone altogether.
I'd just about given up on the whole thing and was looking at dumping my development PC once and for all.
You know things are bad when you can't even give away your source files, time to let it go and move-on was my thoughts.
I've once again found interest in doing scenery objects, even aircraft objects but only as much as doing the uncut airframe. I simply have no ticker to make animated AI aircraft any more, the road is too long and bumpy and I'm getting too old and grumpy!
All my source files are available while I'm still around should anybody wish to use or abuse them, but heck, don't all rush me at once!
cheer's,

A few of my scratchings. This time for the first time I have modelled the new KC-30 Airlift terminals.
First one is almost textured and complete with a few solar cell pannels missing off the roof, the down pipes and window screen. I must remember to model them.
Feel free to let me know what you think.

I know that they always look better in the sim but they do look very nice indeed.
