RAAF (YAMB) Amberely Air Base, Queensland, Australia
Hi Friends,
Just letting you know that YAMB scenery is in the process of being upgraded for FS9. The base will recieve more than 35 custom buildings, many made from photos taking by me. Additionally the base will feature photo real ground textures and adjustment to runways to match real world charts.
We are about half way through the process and the base is coming together nicely. It will also suit those among us with lower end PC's with the scenery providing excellent frame rates on single core processor and old graphic cards, so it should zoom along on newer PC's, even when using it in combination with the wonderful VOZ 1.8 scenery for Australia.
Also Brisbane International, YBBN, has recieved yet another face lift since the recent release of VOZ 1.8 and will be released with the YAMB scenery as a stand alone so that every one can install it without needing the 600+ MB download of VOZ 1.8. Brisbane will feature the future proposed runway and terminal (as per information found on the web) and should be a big hit with virtual flight groups. YBBN has also seen a marked increase in frame rates dispite having much more scenery added and features photo real ground textures.
I'll let you know when its available.
Mark

Hi friends,
RAAF Amberely, YAMB, version one scenery has now been released and is available on Flightsim.com. We are aware that this version is not perfect in the ATC control department due to rotating the runways to true life position to match photo-real ground and will amend this and any other issue that may pop-up in version two.

We have decided to speed up version two of YAMB, due to FS ATC giving incorrect approach information when using the FS flight planner.
As more simmers rely on FS lat/lon positions, we are returning the airport back to its former default FS position.
If you are using real-life approach charts, the airport is correct and you won't have a problem, assuming you know how to navigate.
We appoligise to those who have found it difficult to land using FS ATC instructions.

I can answer for Mark, on this question. Yes it was removed for that approach issue. The longer they left it up the more confusion there would have been later on.

Got a question for anyone who would know. In the scenery folder there is a file named AF2_LOZ_YAMB.rar. What is this file for?
the scenery is very impressive. well done. do you have any intention to do another base?

Hey Guy's, thanks for the praise it all helps to keep us motivated to do more.
I agree with you on the AFX afcad but it cuts our work load down and generally makes life easier for us in production. Otherwise we would have to also make and place taxi signs one by one and flatten and exclude files separately. Personally, I really don't like the program for the reason that you point out but alass we are few and far on scenery helpers here in OZ for FS2004.
As for other sceneries, your in for a big surprise. And yes, there is more in production and on the drawing board for the future.
Guess where this RAAF base resides.

With the release of the freeware ADE yesterday the AFX issue should be closed.fishlips wrote:Hey Guy's, thanks for the praise it all helps to keep us motivated to do more.
