My first FSX shot

Post by Angry_Anderson »

I just got FSX this week (I was a diehard FS9 holdout) and only have a few things installed. So far, I'm pretty impressed with FSX. I am starting to add things to Japan and have installed scenery for Hyakuri Air Base (RJAH) along with my repaints of Nick Black's Phantom models. The scenery is available online here: http://www.fsmaniacs.com/modules/d3down ... d=9&lid=22

Not enough interest.

Simply the case that none of the staff have it, combined with the demise of the FS series. No real reason to move on.

I had absolutely no interest until just recently. Now, I'm all about it and can't move things over fast enough. Yeah, it's a resource hog, but if you have the rig to do it, I highly recommend it.

And there's the problem. Anyone want to buy the entire MAIW team each a new rig capable of running FSX?

I am in the process of coming up with the parts to build a rig capable of running FSX, but I don't know if I will actually ever run FSX, or just run FS9 with all of the settings set to awesome.

Great shots, long time holdout myself until I finally got a gaming laptop that could run it. Almost done porting all my MAIW packages over.

As a side issue for you people tempted by the dark side, how are the scenerys that we have released? I remember somebody saying about trees at Nellis for example. Are there problems, have solutions been found for such things or are you guys just living with them?

Aside from some problems with trees growing through the aprons, and visual problems with some objects like FS9 native trees, which have the unfortunate habit of making anything behind them invisible, the MAIW packages work very well indeed.

edit-oh and there are cockpit problems with quite a few aircraft -clouds showing up wierdly through the glass etc, some opaque etc. Not major for me though.

I remove all the trees and ramplights from the scenery. Only have transparency issues with the squadron logos and apron shelters at NAS Lemoore, CA. Fixes for canopies helped. Now just changing all the wingspans in the aircraft.cfg file. Mentioned this in the FSX thread, seems the LOD's and textures load different in FSX than FS9.

I have a computer that can run FSX but I am still using FS9. The reason is because there is scenery that I love that will not work in FSX. Plus there is still a lot of payware FS9 stuff that I don't have yet.

Thank you for introducing my scenery.
I updated my RJAH to ver.2. The Hyakuri AB is reproduced there.
